  • ⬆️From Waves to Cybersecurity: NATO DIANA innovators are levelling up The 2025 batch of accelerator participants has been announced, but 3 standout companies from Estonia’s 2024 programme—Lobster Robotics, Dolphin Labs Ocean, and Goldilock—are still driving innovation in phase 2 until February. 🔐 Goldilock (UK): Combating cybercrime with tech that physically disconnects digital assets and networks remotely—no internet needed. 🌊 Lobster Robotics (Netherlands): Their underwater drones map seabeds in HD, can detect threats near critical infrastructure, and assist in environmental restoration. ⚡ Dolphin Labs (USA): Harnessing wave energy to power underwater sensors, microgrids, and communication systems, enhancing maritime knowledge and critical infrastructure safety. 💬 Lobster Robotics CEO Stephan Rutten: "The first phase gave us wings, and the second taught us to fly. The Estonian accelerator's support has been instrumental in helping us succeed." Want to learn more about this trio and stay up-to-date with the NATO DIANA Estonian accelerator? Link in comments. • Last week on Friday, Tehnopol HealthTech community members gathered to explore the promising HealthTech ecosystem in Singapore. 🇸🇬 We aimed to offer valuable insights on market entry strategies, strategic collaborations, and future opportunities for Estonian and Singaporean companies in the HealthTech space.💡 The morning began with opening remarks by Priit Turk, Estonia's Ambassador to Singapore, who highlighted the strong support Estonia offers to companies seeking to expand into Singapore. HealthTech, with its focus on #agingpopulation, #genomics, #AI, and #mentalhealth, is a key area of emphasis for Singapore. Joshua Lim and Melinda Khoo, both from the Singapore General Hospital, offered a detailed overview of the vibrant business environment in Singapore and outlined partnership opportunities with the hospital. Did you know that Singapore is home to over 3800 startups, and there is typically a 83-month journey to reach unicorn status? 🦄 We were lucky that Shilpa Karkeraa visited Estonia again to share the success story of Myraa Technologies. She shared how company’s AI-powered solutions are making a global impact. Avely Marjapuu, Research and Business Development specialist at the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme at NUS, shared her personal journey of moving to Singapore, offering advice on adjusting to local culture and the business landscape. Avely also introduced the concept of #longevity, a rapidly growing sector in both Singapore and globally, with a strong focus on health and well-being across generations. 👪 The event concluded with a session by Johanna-Riinu Annuk and Merilin Varsamaa. They discussed the next steps for strategic partnerships between Estonian and Singaporean HealthTech companies and organisations. 🤝 The sweetest part is usually at the end - networking! Participants were able to explore potential partnerships, taking away key learnings on how to successfully enter and thrive in the Singaporean HealthTech market. A big thank you to the Estonian Embassy in Singapore for their help in organising the event, and to all the presenters for sharing their ideas. This was the last healthtech community event of 2024, but so many exciting things are coming in 2025. Stay tuned! 👋

  • Highlights from the AI Development Program Stars Event 🌟 On December 12th, we gathered for an inspiring afternoon at the AI Development Program Stars event, which proved to be a powerhouse of knowledge, innovation, and foresight into the future of AI. Here are some key takeaways from a day packed with inspiration and practical lessons! 🌟 We were thrilled to have Danilo McGarry, a globally recognized AI expert, join our event. Danilo's insights on scaling innovation left us all more knowledgeable and prepared to tackle the challenges of implementing new technologies effectively. His practical advice on vision, governance, and cultural nuances provided a roadmap for new tech initiatives. 🌟 The panel moderated by Juhan-Madis Pukk (Flowit), featuring insights from Stewen Naano (Cadrak), Frederika Frey (DriveX Technologies), Jürgen Lorenz (Menken Trials), and Elli Valla (Augmental), was a deep dive into the practical lessons from various AI pilot projects. Each story shared was a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of our participants. 🌟 The event kicked off with a vibrant show by Florian Wahl, who unveiled a new song created specifically for this occasion, blending art and AI in a dynamic performance. Florian is innovating the use of AI in developing his music, and part of the song was crafted live on stage! 🌟Tehnopol’s AI Development Program coordinators Rauno Varblas and Kristiina Libe gave an overview of the program's three years, highlighting how this program has positively impacted numerous companies. They detailed the milestones achieved, including the implementation of various AI workshops, ideation days, pre-seminars, and accelerator programs, which have all contributed to enhancing the companies' understanding and application of AI technologies. From 2022 to 2024, Tehnopol has funded 40 AI pilot projects within the program, totaling nearly 1.5 million euros. This event served to both celebrate these achievements and set the stage for future initiatives, as we continue to drive forward with innovative solutions in AI. A heartfelt thank you to all our speakers, panelists, and attendees for making the AI Development Program Stars event a memorable and impactful day. Here's to many more such gatherings where we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI! 🌟 The AI Development Program has been created jointly with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia. #AI #Tehnopol #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation

  • 🦓 Intensive growth sprint fuels Estonian and Finnish scaleups 🦓 We recently hosted a two-day bootcamp for a selected group of Estonian and Finnish zebra scaleups, aimed at accelerating growth and embedding sustainability into their business strategies. 🌿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 Margus Saks, Sales Manager at Estanc, shared insights from Estanc’s ESG journey and its crucial role in expanding to foreign markets. Despite initial scepticism about the importance of ESG principles, Diana Paakspuu convinced attendees of the necessity. It’s difficult to imagine a company that isn't affected by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). Scaleups part of a CSRD-compliant supply chain or those seeking financing must be prepared to address ESG-related questions. 📈 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 Our speakers, including Olli Laintila from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, delivered valuable strategies and essential reading for business development. Johanna Fräki from Invesdor Nordics shared insights on securing capital for growth, Patrick Gerber offered practical tips on entering new markets, and Helen Minařík provided guidance on creating export-ready product portfolios. A heartfelt thank you to all the speakers and also mentors who shared their knowledge and expertise, ensuring the bootcamp's success! 🌟 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 In the upcoming January, we will select up to ten exceptional scaleups from this bootcamp to receive personalized mentorship, helping them implement their strategic plans over the next six months.   Zebra ScaleUp project partners: Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and Tehnopol. Project is funded by the Central Baltic Programme.   #ZebraScaleUp #Sustainability #ESG #ScaleUp #Growth

  • 🌍 Estonia: A hub for global innovation in defence and dual-use technologies! We are proud to announce that seven cutting-edge companies have been chosen to join the NATO DIANA Estonian accelerator, including two remarkable local innovators, marking an exciting new chapter in dual-use innovation. More than 2600 companies applied to be part of the second year of the programme. Out of those, just over 70 were chosen spanning 13 accelerator sites throughout the Alliance. Telearmy’s innovative teledriving technology, in use on the Ukrainian frontlines, retrofits existing vehicles to enable long-distance remote operations via Starlink and radiolink for advanced military applications. Wayren develops a platform for uninterrupted communication in critical environments, eliminating life-threatening delays both on battlefields and within remote industries. Supported by the expertise of Tehnopol Startup Incubator and Sparkup Tartu Science Park, these teams will benefit from €100,000 in initial funding, access to a vast international network, cutting-edge testing centres, and mentorship opportunities. This milestone highlights Estonia’s strong position as a centre of innovation, with Tehnopol leading the way in supporting startups that aim to transform the world. #NATODIANA NATO DIANA
