🚨 LIVE from Strasbourg! 🚨 Get a sneak peek of the latest Euromines Study presented at today’s event with MEPs at the European Parliament! 📊 Key insights: ⚡The EU mining sector consumes 26TWh of energy —around 50% (70% for Non-Ferrous mining) is already electrified. 💶Transitioning further will need €11-17B in investments, with €9-14B for electrification. 📉Energy costs remain volatile due to OPEX and permitting challenges. 📜Clear energy policies are vital to decouple renewable costs from fossil fuels and support electrification without penalising the sector. 🎤 Tomas Wyns Senior Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and expert featured in EP. 2 of Euromines #podcast highlighted “Decarbonisation is possible with the right policy framework that enables investments”.
