Every day, #women and #girls around the world spend hours collecting water and wood, and suffer the consequences of a lack of access to essential services. Access to clean #water and sanitation, reliable #energy and efficient #waste management are not just environmental issues: they are fundamental to gender equality and the #empowerment of women. Every action taken is a girl brought closer to school and a woman freed from a daily burden. The Veolia Foundation works particularly: 🔹 in #Senegal, where an innovative system for treating surface water from the Gambia River has been set up, allowing the inhabitants of some forty villages to access standpipes close to their homes, saving women long journeys. 🔹 in #Madagascar, where more than 6,000 inhabitants in 200 villages now have access to electricity thanks to the support of the Veolia Foundation and the entrepreneurs of the Nanoé association, who are deploying nano-grids to connect the population to essential services. 🔹 in the Democratic Republic of #Congo, where water infrastructures are severely affected by climate disruption. The Veolia Foundation is supporting a program to improve access to drinking water by rehabilitating equipment: essential work to ensure the long-term production, storage and distribution of drinking water. #BecauseWeCare #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction Fondation Veolia - 📷 Isabelle SERRO

Generate affordable, low-carbon and local energy turning #waste cold into #energy? That’s what Veolia does at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the port of #Barcelona, where we recover residual cold to generate energy, thanks to an innovative solution. By partnering with Enagás and Barcelona City Council, we're channeling this recovered energy into an urban cooling network, essential to the activities of several industrial and commercial sites as well as public facilities. ⚡ It will generate 131 GWh every year, equivalent to the annual consumption of a city with over 100,000 inhabitants. With over 150 LNG terminal sites worldwide, this model can be easily replicated globally, especially in densely populated and industrialized regions!

📣 A new high-tech materials recovery facility in #Australia! Veolia signed a contract to build, operate and maintain a new state-of-the-art materials recycling facility (MRF) in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), in Hume, near Canberra. This MRF will recycle 1.3 million tonnes of materials over 20 years from Canberra’s residents and nearby councils. Combined with an energy saving rooftop solar, the facility will reduce carbon emissions by more than 26,000 tonnes every year. ♻️ It will be Australia’s most modern recycling sorting technology and will stop the need to truck the recyclable materials to Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide, significantly cutting transport carbon emissions. 🇦🇺 This new facility is the latest investment by Veolia as part of its global #GreenUp strategy. It marks the first of many strategic investments being made by the Group across the country in 2025, with Australia listed as a priority growth area. 🔗 Learn more about the contract: https://lnkd.in/eGkHuWCu

Are the changes needed to face climate change acceptable to populations around the world? 🌍 This question is at the heart of Veolia's Ecological Transformation Barometer, carried out with a sample representing more than half the world's population on 5 continents. The aim of this barometer is: 🔷 to make public debates more tangible by working on solutions 🔷 to understand both the obstacles and the motivating factors that will make solutions more acceptable to the public The results are clear: populations around the world are increasingly concerned about the effects of climate disruption on their #health and quality of life. Citizens say they are ready, in the majority, to embrace the necessary changes to generalize existing solutions against climate change and pollution. Faced with this awareness, Veolia positions itself as a major player in the ecological transformation to protect the health of populations. The Group is accelerating the deployment of innovative solutions to reduce pollution, preserve resources and adapt to the impacts of #ClimateChange, while calling for concerted global action to accelerate the fight against climate disruption. 🔗 Download the second edition of the #EcologicalTransformation Barometer: https://lnkd.in/e5TZJPtC

Have you ever wondered how to transform #dialogue into action? Well, this is exactly what the collective "+1, for ecology in action" gathering representatives of the various stakeholder groups of Veolia was tasked to work on when they met earlier this month. Dialogue is necessary and beneficial, but dialogue alone is not sufficient. Thanks to a strong existing relationship with its stakeholder groups based on trust, mutual and active listening, Veolia brought forward the idea that it was now time to take this dialogue one step further. 💡 In order to strengthen its various existing dialogue initiatives and to accelerate the transition to action, Veolia proposes the creation of a Stakeholder Assembly, with direct access to the Group's Executive Committee. The objective of this new Stakeholder Assembly easily reached consensus: ➡️ to find a common path towards #EcologicalTransformation Then, the participants were given a more complex mission: ➡️ to envision the outlines of this Stakeholder Assembly and identify priority themes to address in order to collectively make a difference. The emerging topics: 🔹 adaptation to #ClimateChange 🔹 economic models 🔹 social justice 🔹 artificial intelligence We believe ecological transformation can only happen at the local level, in consultation with local elected officials, by mobilizing stakeholders of all categories around them and combining existing forces to deploy solutions that improve community life, health, economy, and well-being. 🔗 Discover the highlights of this event: https://lnkd.in/ek6vnSHU
