Andrew Aaron “Andy” Mineo was born on April 17, 1988 in Syracuse, New York. Before moving to New York City, he worked as a producer and was a part of the hip-hop group “Fat Camp”. After moving to New York City, he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and closed down his production studio in his hometown, restarting his career. He released his first mixtape Sin Is Wack in 2009 under his former stage name C-Lite. Under the name C-Lite he collaborated with his soon to be label mates Lecrae and Tedashii on various songs like “Background” and “Reverse”. In 2011 he released a single, “In My City”, which gained him a lot of popularity.
He signed to Reach Records in 2011 and changed his stage name “C-Lite” to his legal name Andy Mineo. Under this name he released another mixtape, Formerly Known. His first full-length studio album, Heroes for Sale, was released on April 16, 2013. On January 28, 2014, he released his EP Never Land. His sophomore album entitled Uncomfortable was released on September 18, 2015. His next project was a collaborative mixtape with fellow rapper and common collaborator Wordsplayed, entitled Andy Mineo and Wordsplayed Present Magic & Bird (known simply as Magic & Bird or M&B), released on August 4, 2017.
On April 27, 2018 Andy released the first of two installments in his EP series I: The Arrow – EP, and then on September 21, 2018 he released the second installment II: The Sword – EP. His fourth studio album Work In Progress released on August 23, 2019. Andy released another EP, Happy Thoughts, on December 2, 2020. He followed this up with his long-awaited third studio album, Never Land II, on October 1, 2021 after several delays.
