Workshopping 📝 Exploring 🧶 Envisioning 🌍 and refining visions of a transformed future - The #AfricaCharter Steering Committee is in Accra amongst the Association of African Universities developing a theory of change for the Africa Charter to guide and shape this programme of work and explore the visions for the global system of #scholarship, collaboration and to map pathways to change. Between 2024 and 2027, the Steering Committee for the Africa Charter (SCAC) member institutions will run a consortium to spearhead a concerted, multi-functional programme of #criticalreview, inquiry and pathfinder interventions and joint learning among Charter signatories and wider HE and #academic sector stakeholders. The purpose of the programme is to establish foundations for- and set in motion- wider processes of change in academic ecosystem discourses, practice norms and structures to nurture a community of action and advance the implementation of the Charter. The #SocialMedia Workshop for French speaking AAU members begins today in #Dakar #Senegal (25-27 November 2024). The training is hosted by the AAU in collaboration with EISMV- Ecole Inter-Etats des Sciences et Médecine Vétérinaires de Dakar - a valued member of the Association of African Universities. Two AAU members of staff travelled to Dakar to support the delivery of this training: Miss Elsie Frimpong and Miss Imelda gisele Why the social media training for African higher education institutions? A survey conducted by the AAU Secretariat on social media usage by its members revealed the following: 📒 Most AAU members do not have social media strategies (there are no institutional approaches to guide social media adoption),  🚫 Several AAU members have unofficial social media accounts,  ⬆️ Most do not guide the creation of social media pages / groups by their various faculties / colleges / institutions,  💲 Most have not recruited dedicated social media officers,  ‼️ In most member universities the Communication Officers, Public Relations Officers, Information Officers, Marketing Officers and International Liaison Officers have not undergone training on how to optimize social media to support the goals of their institutions.
