On Day 2 of our UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC)/ Ghana JET Auto Road Show trade mission to the UK, industry experts, policymakers, and #business leaders gathered at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to discuss key advancements and opportunities in Ghana's evolving #automotive sector. The discussions highlighted pathways to accelerate electric vehicle (#EV) and automotive #infrastructure and manufacturing, backed by strong UK-Ghana collaboration. The day included insightful contributions from R. Yofi Grant, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre; Lord Waverley (House of Lords), and Eugene Sangmortey, who underscored the importance of Ghana's automotive #investment potential. UKGCC’s Immaculata King facilitated a dynamic conversation on market access, featuring voices from Matt Smith, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT); Gavin De Costa, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; Valerie Labi, Wahu E-bikes; and Erik Nygard, Kofa. MacMillan Prentice, Ghana Standards Authority, and Albert Adu Boahen gave presentations on Ghana’s EV standards, and the successful EV bus deployment by Metro Mass Limited, respectively. These dialogues, alongside the MoU between SMMT and Ghana's Ministry of Trade and Industry, mark significant strides for #technology transfer, skills development, and the growth of Ghana's green #automotive industry. Comline’s Miten Parikh, Group Commercial Director; and Anupam Maheshwari, Exports Sales Manager, hosted us and shared valuable insights into Comline’s extensive product range, distribution capabilities, and partnership opportunities for Ghanaian automotive businesses. This past week has been a profound reminder of the work I do as a business enabler. I was privileged to deliver a special business roadshow for the automotive sector, funded by Palladium: Make It Possible’s Ghana JET programme. The week-long activities were a stellar reminder of the relationship between Ghana and the UK, and the commitment of the UK to position Ghana as the destination for manufacturing whilst also promoting economic growth. The roadshow began with a courtesy call on the Ghana High Commission - UK team - Mawutor N.K. Alifo and Diana Afriyie Addo, as well as a visit to UKGCC UK-based member company - GHIB- Ghana International Bank, led by Raymond Sambou , Francis Kojo Ackah, MBA, CITF. and Richard Agbenu. I was also privileged to steer and moderate a policy roundtable with speakers : R. Yofi Grant , Lord Waverley, Valerie Labi , Eugene Sangmortey , Gavin De Costa , Matthew Smith, Erik Nygard, MacMillan Prentice and Albert Adu Boahen. This event was an opportunity to showcase the automotive and EV manufacturing potential in Ghana and to entreat investors and auto companies to consider Ghana as the destination for any form of automotive innovation. Another highlight of this roadshow was visiting Comline Auto Parts Ltd, a large distributor of vehicle parts globally and witnessing their revolutionary warehouse with robots. Still on the road, we paid a visit to LSH Auto’s Mercedes-Benz House of Excellence, and visited OX Delivers - a UK EV truck company operating in Rwanda. We climaxed the roadshow with a visit to the FCDO office in Birmingham, where we were hosted by the amazing Emma Johnson and also met with AVD Fire, who have some fantastic products for lithium batteries. My takeaway from this roadshow is that opportunities are endless and I am pleased to know my work as an international business enabler is vital to promoting bilateral and global trade, and essentially to position Ghana as the hub for innovation and manufacturing across all sectors. A huge thanks to the Ghana JET team - Eugene Sangmortey and Jasmine Griffiths, to UKGCC’s amazing trade services team - Sara-Adelaide Odamtten and Shirgade Laryea and to UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director Adjoba Kyiamah for all their support and guidance.

We continue our #tradeclose momentum in November with key engagements with critical partners, building global #Tradebridges for Africa. #GHIB had the honor of hosting delegates from the UKGCC Auto Road Show to explore how we can further provide efficient trade banking for the automotive sector on the Ghana-UK bridge. UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce delegates included Eugene Sangmortey-Team Lead of the Jobs and Economic Transformation Program (Ghana JET), Mr. MacMillan Prentice - Standards Directorate at the Ghana Standards Authority, Mrs. Valerie Labi- CEO of Wahu Mobility Ltd., Nicholas Agyakwa - Managing Director of Nics Autoparts, and Immaculata King - Trade Services Manager at UKGCC.   #TeamGHIB turned out in full force to offer a powerful ‘Akwaaba’ with GHIB Deputy CEO and COO, Raymond Sambou, Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Agbenu, and Business Banking Manager, Francis Kojo Ackah, MBA, CITF.. All around, profitable discussions on how GHIB can leverage the #powerofLondon to drive the development of transport in Ghana. It was a great pleasure to host the UKGCC, and we will continue to build the necessary #tradebridges together.

This week, we were in London with the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce, where we gathered Ghanaian and British industry leaders and policymakers at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers for a policy panel discussion on “Strengthening Access to Markets for the UK-Ghana Automotive Sector.”🇬🇧🇬🇭 The discussion focused on advancing Ghana’s automotive industry, with in-depth discussions on key areas such as: 🔘 Opportunities to invest in EV infrastructure and EV manufacturing 🔘UK Government support to the UK private sector through the Growth Gateway to explore partnerships in Ghana 🔘The future of Metro Mass Transit Ltd introducing EV buses into Ghana transport system These engagements come off the back of many other successful partnerships the UK government-funded Ghana JET Programme has facilitated including an MoU between the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Greater Accra Regional Office to focus on skills and technology transfer this year. The day wrapped up with an inspiring tour of the London Transport Museum, where we gained insights into London’s advanced transport ecosystem—an invaluable reference as we work toward a robust, future-ready automotive landscape in Ghana.
