Similar social personalities strongly influence friendships in humans, yet we know relatively little about how animals choose their friends. Huge Congratulations to Yuk Yin Lai! I’m thrilled to announce that my research student, Yuk Yin Lai, has achieved her first publication even before graduation! This is a remarkable milestone! In our retrospective study, we used the combination of Chlorambucil and Toceranib for treating various cancers. Preliminary findings suggest that at the dose range used, this combination is quite safe. I believe it could be beneficial to share our preliminary findings and insights with colleagues. Dean Vanessa Barrs and Professors Paulo Steagall, Kate Flay and Ákos Kenéz joined the Deans of the veterinary schools of Hainan University China, Massey University NZ and Kasetsart University Thailand and their delegations to share their experiences and vision for international accreditation of veterinary schools in China and South East Asia with one common goal - to lift standards of veterinary education. Together we can do more.

Despite their busy schedule, 27 of our BVM students have volunteered as student mentors in the Hong Kong Police Animal Watchers Program, raising awareness about animal welfare in the community through schools. Thanks to our reptile and amphibian specialist Prof. Colin McDermott, VMD, DABVP (Reptile/Amphibian),CertAqV and Director of Development Dr Howard Wong who also gave up their Saturday morning to mentor our students and give them top tips on exotic animal husbandry and medicine.

Extra Sat morning reptile and ornamental fish lectures given by Prof Colin McDermott for 27 of our volunteer vet students, joining the Hong Kong Police Animal Watchers Programme as student mentors, to help high school and primary school students take care of their school animal collections.
