🎉 BioInnovate 2024 Highlights 🎉 What a year it has been for BioInnovate! Taking the time today to reflect on this incredible year of milestones, achievements, and growth across our community. 🎄 From our biannual MedTech Brews in partnership with Irish Medtech to the launch of the Enterprise Ireland Innovators Initiative and the University of Galway Ian Quinn Centre for Health Technology Innovation, it has been a year of exciting firsts. We delivered 2 new innovation training programmes in collaboration with Irish Medtech Skillnet We also finally came together for our much-anticipated (and slightly delayed!) 10-year celebration in the Galmont—a special moment to mark over a decade of innovation and collaboration. 🌟 November was a standout month as we celebrated the graduation of the 2023/24 Fellows and had the privilege of awarding Honorary Doctorates of Science to Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign founders, Professor Paul Yock and Dr Josh Makower—a truly inspiring recognition of their global contributions to healthcare innovation. We were also delighted to welcome 12 new participants to Block E, ready to shape the future of health technology innovation. Our alumni community had a BIG year too—achieving significant funding rounds, scaling businesses, and making waves across the industry. As we close 2024, we celebrate these achievements and look forward to an even brighter year ahead. None of this would be possible without the incredible support from the BioInnovate community—our partners, alumni, and friends. 🎄 Wishing you all a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season! Applications to the BioInnovate Ireland 2025/2026 programme are now open. The programme, in combination with Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund, has an excellent pedigree and impressive track record for systematically nurturing medtech scaling companies that are competitive (and often successful) in the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator programme in Horizon Europe. The EIC Accelerator programme sets a very high bar, and involves competing with the best deeptech scale ups in Europe for blended finance awards of €2.5m in grant and/or €10m in equity funding. Incredibly proud and delighted for the entire LUMA Vision team in winning Emerging Medtech Company of Year at #medtechrising. This is a great honour from our peers in the thriving medtech industry in Ireland and a testament to how far we've come from our genesis at BioInnovate Ireland and commercialisation fund with Trinity College Dublin and University of Galway through to growing to be a pan-european startup with USA to come. Thank you to Irish Medtech IDA Ireland Enterprise Ireland for this award and all our stakeholders and investors EQT Life Sciences Atlantic Bridge imec.xpand Bayern Kapital for their support. Everyone in Ireland is in Medtech! Such an amazing experience at Medtech Rising speaking on advanced AI practices with Sluice AI alongside Bent Dalager from KPMG and Andrew Phelan from Beats Medical. Earlier in the week was honored by the opportunity to guest speak at the BioInnovate Ireland Executive Education where Executives from the Irish Medtech ecosystem learned the Biodesign process first pioneered by the Stanford Mussallem Center for Biodesign. Can't wait for my next trip.
Medtech companies are leveraging intelligent technologies to deliver personalised healthcare with new technology-driven offerings, business models, and R&D operating models.
