About us
The Food Industry Training Unit (FITU), part of the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences in University College Cork (UCC) was established by the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, University College Cork (UCC), 26 years ago. An insightful and interactive session with Olive McCarthy, Bridget Carroll and Team today as we started back into the new year with our Tirlán module on Co-operative Governance.
💰💰 Ever played Monopoly, the game for would-be property moguls and hotel owners? 🏚🏚 Well today we introduced Co-opoly - the game of co-operatives - to the participants of our new Certificate in Professional Development and Co-operative Governance, as part of the Tirlan Governance Academy with the Food Industry Training Unit, University College Cork (UCC) and Cork University Business School. Co-opoly was made for those who want to play together instead of competing against each other, and those thinking about starting a co-operative or improving skills as collaborators. We used it pedagogically today to think about how we make decisions as co-operators....and for a bit of inclusive fun and movement in the classroom. Thanks to The TESA Collective, a worker-owned publisher, for rethinking traditional gaming and all the programme participants from Tirlán co-operative who were so willing to get stuck in today.
