✨Second week of the annual innovation course and we're making great progress✨ After an introductory session where we got to know the course and the methodology, we dove into the content itself. 📝 We started the week with a session on interviews and observations, featuring a lecture by @Dr. Midan Cohen, followed by a hands-on experience with Dr. Yotam Shkedy and a wonderful patient who kindly agreed to collaborate with us. 🎯 The goal of the session was to practice and take a “Zoom-out” perspective on the therapist-patient interview, gathering insights and highlights to prepare for our participants' practical fieldwork. 🤝 Later in the week, the groups met with the team responsible for group dynamics for the first of many sessions, focusing on soft skills that are essential throughout the training. 📚 This session was dedicated to introductions, aligning expectations, and outlining the framework for your group work. In the last two years, we have started a new activity at the Biodesin Israel Center: Biodesign workshops for medical organizations. In these two years, we have been hosted by various medical organizations, and we always enjoy and are excited to see the immediate impact.  This time, we were especially excited about the Tzafon Medical Center's decision to open its doors to participants from other organizations. We wish the participants of our third workshop at the North Medical Center much success and enjoyment of the process. Meet Glaucotech ⬇ Adi Barkai Eden Amir Dr. Keren Shahar-Nissan Maya Rajuan Dar Sana Yassin and Yifat Levin Yosef Pioneering innovative treatments for glaucoma using cutting-edge technology. As eye drops are often uncomfortable for patients, which leads to low compliance, there for we developed the concept of "Glaucotech" goggles nebulizer. The device delivers medication directly to the eyes, offering a revolutionary alternative to traditional eye drops. By prioritizing patient comfort and adherence, we aim to improve treatment outcomes and alleviate the challenges of glaucoma management. Our approach not only ensures efficacy but also enhances the user experience. Meet PP Time ⬇ Dan Levi Maria Naomi Nemenman Muhammad Zua'bi Limor Cohen Yehuda Edri Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are a common and serious health issue among pre-continent girls, often necessitating the collection of sterile urine samples for accurate diagnosis. Traditional methods of urine collection in this population are invasive, uncomfortable, and prone to contamination, leading to diagnostic challenges and patient distress. Our device is a fully biomechanical solution for urine collection in precontinent girls made out of medical-grade silicone, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for our needs population. The integrated sterile bag features a one-way valve to maintain sample integrity and prevent contamination. Antibiotics transformed this, but the overuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics now threatens us with antibiotic resistance. AllerGuide addresses a critical issue: 10% of Americans are labeled as allergic to penicillin, yet only 1% truly are, affecting 33 million people. This mislabeling leads to unnecessary use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, resulting in antibiotic resistance, increased healthcare costs, and longer hospital stays. AllerGuide is a real time decision support system to help doctors make more informed decisions regarding patients with reported Antibiotic Allergies. Meet MUCO ⬇ Aviv Peer Uri Abadi Michal Raz Pansky Ophir Cohen Tsipi Meshyeev Yarden Sharon Head and neck cancer patients need to undergo radiotherapy treatment that creates reactive oxygen species that cause cell death. Unfortunately, radiotherapy, that treats cancer cells, also damages healthy surrounding tissues and causes a common side effect – mucositis This is a result of the repeated exposure to radiation compounds mucosal damage, leading to pain and progressive inflammation and ulcer formation in the oral cavity, Patients that suffer from it cannot eat or drink, they have severe difficulty in swallowing and speaking. Our concept is a spacer which is a thermoplastic material that can be used in order to mechanically create distance between tumor tissue and healthy tissue, so that when planning the radiation treatment, it is easier to only apply radiation to the relevant tissue.
