As we enter this time of year, stubble burning remains a critical environmental issue in North India, particularly in states like Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. Millions of tons of paddy straw are burned annually, releasing harmful pollutants that severely impact air quality and public health, causing respiratory issues, while deteriorating the quality of soil. At Merino Group, we are committed to addressing this critical challenge. Under our ‘Nirmal’ program, we’ve partnered with VNIT Nagpur to develop an innovative method at the Merino Innovation Center. Our patented microbial culture, Bajarang Baan, rapidly converts paddy straw into nutrient-rich compost in just 20 days, meeting FCO Standards. Currently, about 2 MT of paddy straw is processed daily at Merino Hapur, with deployments in Sangrur, Barnala, and Sirsa. This method not only reduces air pollution but also enriches soil health, supporting farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity.
