 The Industry Institute Interaction Cell (IIIC) at PESITM organised an International  webinar titled "Innovate Like a Designer" on 3rd January 2025 with Mr. Yan Garin, Country Head and Director of Ecole Intuit Lab.  Over 101 students and faculty members participated and gained valuable insights into innovative problem-solving and creativity. Mr. Garin’s expertise in Design Thinking illuminated innovative approaches to problem-solving and creativity which was perfectly aligned  with our curriculum for Engineering, MBA, and MCA students. This webinar not only enhanced our participants' understanding of Design Thinking but also highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of creativity and innovation in academia and industry alike.   This collaboration marks a significant step toward fostering industry-academia partnerships. The students from the 7th Semester and a few from the 3rd Semester of the Department of   Artificial Intelligence and  Machine Learning visited IIT Dharwad and Haegl Technologies, Hubballi as a part of their Academic and Industry visit. The  Department of Mathematics celebrated National Mathematics Day at PESITM Shimoga to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great Mathematician Mr.Srinivasa Ramanujan. As a part of this event we organised a Maths Quiz and One Day expert talk as a part of the Student Development Program for all first-year BE students on 21st December 2024.        The National Mathematics Day program was inaugurated by Dr. Narasimha Murthy S K, Professor & Chairman, Department of PG Studies and Research in Mathematics, Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta along with Dr. Yuvaraju B N, Principal, PESITM, Dr. R. Sekar, Dean I year Academics, PESITM & Dr. Aveesh S T, HOD, Department of Mathematics, PESITM. Dr. Narasimha Murthy S K, Professor & Chairman, Department of PG Studies and Research in Mathematics, Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta talked on the topic “Geometrical Applications & Contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan”. Dr. Yuvaraju B N, Principal, PESITM Shimoga addressed the students on how and why mathematics is important for every engineering student. With participation of more than 80 teams in the Maths Quiz conducted on 20th December 2024. The first place was secured by Mr. Rajeev Mahabaleshwar Hedge and Mr. Shuban S Gouli of 1st Semester, ECE Branch Student, the second place was secured by Mr. Likhith R S and Mr. Indresh H R of 1st Semester, ECE Branch Student, and the third place was secured by Mr.Nikil Gowda J R and  K Vikas of 1 Semester, EEE Branch Student. The winners of the quiz received prizes.  As a token of encouragement every year we honor the students who have scored 100/100 marks either in the I & II Semester Mathematics subject. The Department of  Electrical and Electronics Engineering at PESITM Shimoga organised a heritage tour at Shimoga as part of social connectivity and responsibility for 3rd Semester students who visited  Kavaledurga Fort along with faculties, Mr. Kiran M R, Mr. Shanthveeresh N S, and Mrs. Shruthi S on 21st Dec 2024.  The Kavaledurga Fort is a magnificent 9th-century fort rich in history and architectural splendor.
