Updates

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (222) SPMESM’s dream of serving the Divyang Kids with more facilities and dedication is coming true! Vihang Project’s new spacious campus is getting inaugurated on 12th December.  The small video here shows how it was created in just over 14 months.  Hundreds of kind hearted people helped in it. SPMESM is truly humbled! *अपना क्या है इस जीवन में  सब तो लिया उधार। सारा लोहा इन लोगों का  अपनी केवल धार।* We are grateful to each and every contributor. And are inviting you to join us in the Vihang Inauguration Ceremony! #vihang #spmesm

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (221) "Learning and Innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow!” (William Pollard) This is the exact reason, we at SPMESM go for innovative capacity building and training for our staff.  The Design Experts from Pune are working with a group of enthusiastic SPMESM people on the innovative theme of *Service Design & Creative Thinking*  Recently they had a special workshop for our teams on *Ideas Generation*. The trams had a good brainstorming and could come with many innovative solutions to the challenges in their fields.  The non profits may get coordinators and managers but they desperately need the Change Leaders when they are up to handle the complex social issues. Thematic Training processes like *Service Design and Ideas Generation* by experts are enabling our staff to become project champions in development! This small video highlights this! #training #capacitybuilding #ideasgeneration #SPMESM #ServiceDesign

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (220) “गणयन्ति न ये सूर्य वृष्टिं शीतं च कर्षकाः यतन्ते सस्यलाभाय तैः साकं हि वसामि अहं..” (I stay along with those farmers who, without considering the heat, rain, or cold, strive to obtain the grain-produce) In its water sustainability work, SPMESM frequently undertakes the De-Silting work of the water structures in villages.  This serves two purposes: (1) It rejuvenates water bodies, improves the groundwater table, and makes more water available for irrigation. (2) The farmers deposit the excavated silt in their farmlands. It improves the soil health and fertility.  Two farmers from Kinhal and Dhamori Villages of Chhtrapati Sambhajinagar District are sharing their experiences on how the silt from water bodies helped them yield more from their farm lands in this small video. SPMESM has excavated 6300 Brass of silt from water bodies and deposited it in their farm lands farmlands of 26 farmers in these villages.  This important project was supported by AbInBev and IIT- IIT #किन्हळ #धामोरी #जलसाठे #spmesm #AbInBev #IIT

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (219) Development and Democracy go hand in hand. Also, both should be ‘inclusive’. Both need to have everyone’s participation.  Maharshtra is celebrating the ‘Festival of Democracy’- the Assembly Elections on 20th of this month.  Here are some of SPMESM’s young employees urging everyone to participate in it! Their appeal for 💯 percent Voting is there in this short video. #voting #100percentvoting #100percentvotingcampaign #vote2024

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (218) -  "This is the first Diwali in last 15 years that we’re celebrating with true joy!” Sayaji (name changed) became an addict of Alcohol 15 years ago. His health, finances and relations were tarnished. The family also had to go through a lot of sufferings. They went from pillar to post to free him off the addiction but all in vain! Couple of years ago, SPMESM’s Arunodaya Mental Health Project was started in their village. Along with other addicts, Team Arunodaya provided treatment and rigorous counseling support to Sayaji. After 8/9 months’ efforts Sayaji finally could free himself from the vicious cycle of the addiction. More than a year now, he has remained away from alcohol which is a major victory for him!  When Arunodaya team met his wife in a routine visit recently, she shared the feelings with tearful eyes! Sayaji now has regained his communication powers, too. A good example of it- he single handedly convinced all 30 Manas Mitras (Mental Health Volunteers of 30 villages) to enrol themselves to Postal Life Insurance Policy! Arunoday Mental Health Project is working hard to improve the mental health status and de- addiction. Thanks to Wipro Foundation for their ardent support! #Arunoday_Mental_Health #mental_health

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (217) ‘’दीपों का त्यौहार दिवाली आओ दीप जलाएँ | भीतर के अंधियारे को हम मिलकर दूर भगाएँ। | (दीनदयाल शर्मा/ कविता कोश) This week, the Friday Focus message is reaching you three days earlier! The most important reason for it is to *Wish You a Happy and Prosperous Deepawali!* But there is another reason, too! SPMESM’s Community Radio- *Radio Deogiri 91.2 FM* is celebrating Diwali in a special way. *Samadhanachi Diwali*, an initiative by Radio Deogiri is sharing the joy with the less- privileged families. Radio Deogiri Team has appealed the Chhatrapati Sambhhjinagar citizen to share one or two Diwali Sweets for the less- fortunate families who are unable to celebrate. A call to 9405877912 and we will collect the Diwali Faral items from you and share with the needy.  Let’s spread the joy of Diwali together! (The Diwali Sweet/ Faral collection and distribution is limited to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar City Limits and for a short period only. But you can also contribute by donating us in cash via our website: www.spmesmandal.org) #HappyDiwali #happydiwali2024 #radiodeogiri #spmesm

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm(216) कोई दुख  मनुष्य के साहस से बड़ा नहीं.. वही हारा  जो लड़ा नहीं.. (कुँवर नारायण) … But this courage (साहस) is displayed when one gets the assurance that someone is firmly standing by them! Many girls have to face the unfortunate sexual misconduct and abuse. Fear of defamation, violence prevent them from opening up or resisting to such abuses. Many a times, they just prefer to burry the incidences bearing its consequences on the personality.  SPMESM’s Kishori Vikas Project recently had an event in a big school for pre- adolescent and adolescent girls. Samvadinis (female facilitators) and female trainers/ counsellors discussed a variety of topics related to abuses and sexual misconducts. They used innovative communication methods like ‘role- play’ to elaborate the complexity of the topic.  As a result, 5 girls came forward at the end of session with tears in their eyes and shared that they too were subjected to such misconducts and had not spoken about it before! The school session had given them the courage to speak up! A swift follow up action by our tram, school administration and family members resolved the issue and the girls were relieved of fear and shame! This year, KVP is working with 24 schools. Over years, we have been empowering thousands of adolescent girls in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar City and Rural areas on changes in adolescence and coping skills. The range of the awareness programs is from ‘Good Touch- Bad Touch’ awareness to ‘Management of emotions in adolescence’ Thanks to Minex Foundation, Mumbai for their ardent support!

  • #friday_focus_by_spmesm (215) Sanjivani was one of the less privileged girls from SPMESM’s project areas, who was on the verge of giving up education. There wasn’t any formidable arrangement and the family couldn’t afford any.  SPMESM’s Project Ashish came to her rescue. It picks up needy boys and girls for vocational training at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Sanjivani, too, could pursue her Paramedical Skills Course and subsequently got a job as a Patient Assistant. She now works at SPMESM’s Shri Guruji Mobile Clinic Project.  Her father had to give up the irrigation pipeline laying work due to lack of money. Sanjivani, with her salaries, proudly help her father complete that. With her, the family has become self reliant! Every year, project Ashish sponsors stay, food and vocational training for 50 rural girls in Paramedical Skills and 50 boys for Industry related skills. All of them get placements immediately.  Thanks to Canpack India Pvt Ltd for making this possible!
