The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Geothermal Technologies Office has announced a funding opportunity 👏 for regional partnerships to identify gaps, plan, and execute ♨️ geothermal data collection and dissemination activities. The deadline for full application will be on 22 April 2025 📅 . Although not required, applications are encouraged to submit concept papers by 24 February 2025 ☝ to allow the DOE to provide feedback prior to the full application deadline. Climate Action Africa (CAA) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) ☝ for technical assistance in surface exploration studies for the Meru and Ibadakuli ♨️ geothermal prospects in Tanzania. The deadline for submission of proposals will be on 31 January 2025 📅. The contract to be awarded under this RFP will have a duration of 10 months and maximum contract price of CAD 300,000. Investment and production tax credits under the US Inflation Reduction Act have now been expanded to cover ♨️ geothermal power projects. Drilling of a ♨️ geothermal research well as part of the "SCAN project" of EBN B.V. and TNO 🙌 has started in the De Bilt municipality in Utrecht, Netherlands 👏. The exploration well will be drilled to a maximum depth of about 2000 meters, and drilling will take approximately 10 -12 weeks. Supreme Energy’s expansion of the Muara Laboh geothermal field ♨️ in Indonesia has secured a $92.6 million ❗️ loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), facilitating a final investment decision 🙌. This funding will go towards the development of Muara Laboh Unit 2, which has a planned 80 MW ⚡️ installed capacity and is scheduled to be operational by early 2027 🗓️.
