✈️ ~ Captain’s Trivia About Runways ~ ✈️ Hello everyone! I’m Sakai, the captain of Boeing 777 aircraft. Today, I’d like to talk about airport runways🧑🏻✈️ Let’s start with a quiz! 💡 How long do you think runways are? 🛬 The answer is… the shortest runways at airports where ANA operates in Japan are about 2 kilometers long (there are even shorter ones), and the longest runways are 4 kilometers long at Narita airport and Kansai International Airport in Osaka. International flights that carry a lot of fuel are heavier, so they need longer runways. Since takeoff involves accelerating rapidly from a standstill and take off in under a minute, you might have imagined they were a bit shorter, right? 👀❓ Also, did you know that runways are not perfectly flat? 😲 They might have slight inclines across the whole runway or just at the edges due to the natural terrain. An interesting airport is the Hachijojima Airport in the southern Izu islands in Tokyo, where the runway rises in the middle due to the terrain. When you look at the runway from the front, you can't see the end of it. It looks as if the runway stretches straight into the blue sky. 🔭🌞 We pilots study the different features of each runway to improve our skills and adapt our flying techniques to each airport. ✨ You might find it interesting to learn a bit about runways too. 😊 👨✈️ Looking forward to having you onboard! 👍 #CrewView

My name is Oshige, and I work as an engine maintenance specialist at ANA Engine Technics, working on aircraft engine maintenance 🧑🏻🔧 I'm in my 7th year at ANA, and starting this year, I've taken on the role of a sub-chief, supporting my team and focusing on my duties with renewed dedication every day 💪🏻 My job involves supporting the safe flight of aircrafts by disassembling and reassembling engines. The engine is divided into units called "modules", which we disassemble down to the smallest details and then carefully reassemble 🔧 By the way, do you know which place in Japan produces the most "katsuobushi", the dried bonito flakes that are essential for Japanese cuisine? 🐟 Many people might think of Shizuoka or Kochi, but actually, it's my hometown of Makurazaki City in Kagoshima Prefecture that ranks number one‼️ It's a city where the scent of smoked katsuobushi fills the air. If you ever visit Kagoshima, please take the time to stop by Makurazaki ✨ Going forward, our team will continue to provide high-quality engine maintenance so that everyone can enjoy a safe and pleasant journey in the skies 🧑🏻🔧✨ Thank you for your continued support‼️

Hello everyone! This is Suenaga from the Ground Handling department at Haneda Airport👷🏻♀️ At Haneda Airport, ground handling operations are divided into 3 main categories: domestic operations, international operations, and towing (moving aircraft to parking spots) ✈️ I primarily work with international flights, handling both ANA's international flights and other airlines' flights as well! My tasks include loading and unloading luggage and cargo, attaching and detaching the boarding bridges that connect the aircraft to the terminal, and acting as a sender, communicating with pilots in the cockpit via radio. While we sometimes have to deal with bad weather and delays, we take full responsibility in ensuring the safe departure of aircraft and work closely with our team to carry out our duties 💪🏻 When the plane departs, we can clearly see passengers waving back at us from the cabin, but we can also see you very well if you're at the observation deck too 👀!! Since we work on a shift schedule, it’s common to lose track of the days of the week, which is something that happens a lot on this job. However, when we see a lot of people on the observation deck, it makes us realize, 'Oh, it’s the weekend!' and our sense of time returns 😳!
