While celebrating #WorldToiletDay today, it is crucial to tilt focus to these pressing areas that still call for concern in both rural and urban communities. According to #UNWater, as at 2022, 🪧3.5 billion people still lack access to safely managed sanitation services. 🪧419 million people still practice open defecation. Unsafe sanitary conditions expose individuals to infectious diseases such as cholera, typhoid, Hepatitis and helminth-borne infections. 🪧🗞️Educating the public on preventative and mitigation measures and appropriate sanitation practices is a sure means to considerably reduce the rate of spread of WASH-related diseases. The Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST), in collaboration with Research and Development without Borders (RDWB), Cameroon is doing a great job in empowering and engaging communities in their endeavours to create more peaceful disease-free environments. Green Conceptions Africa (GCA) took part in the technical skills share workshop facilitated by a team of experts from the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST), Canada, led by Catherine Bourgault during which emphasis was placed on the above health pressures, within which preventive and mitigation technologies.
