This December, as the streets light up with festive cheer, the roads tell a different story. Across #Africa, #trauma cases surge during the holiday season, with road #trafficinjuries posing a critical #publichealth concern. In 2021 alone, the World Health Organization African Region recorded a staggering 225,482 deaths—a tragic 19% of global fatalities, despite the continent having just 3% of the world’s vehicles. Alarmingly, road fatalities in Africa have increased by 17% since 2010, giving the region the highest fatality rate worldwide at 19.4 deaths per 100,000 people. 🚨 Behind every statistic is a #family, a #lovedone, and a #life that could have been saved. #Blood is the unsung hero in #emergencies, especially during the festive season when trauma cases spike. To address this, CoBA has launched the #SeasonOfGiving Campaign, featuring Thandi, a young ballerina with a powerful message: “This December, let’s make giving more than just a tradition, let’s make it life-saving.” Be the hero someone needs this season. #Donateblood today.
