Risper Genga Ohaga Our second guest on Executive Connect was The Girl Who Never Cried. She captivated us with her incredible story of rising above the odds and working her way to the top of her class. She felt it was important to share her journey because, let’s face it, many people assume leaders just pop out of nowhere, draped in privilege, without a single scratch from life’s battles. As she tells us, “leaders are just people, like anyone else” – showcasing the importance of humanising leadership. Her experience at Executive Connect was a game-changer. Not only did it help her tackle some personal barriers (we all have them, right?), but it also gave her the chance to form really authentic connections with people she might never have crossed paths with. And let’s be honest – those of us lucky enough to be in the room? We’re all the better for soaking up her wisdom, one inspiring word at a time! Anne Muraya The General's Daughter kicked off our Executive Connect series in January 2024 as our very first guest. Unsure of what she was walking into, she showed up fully and authentically, sharing her story with openness and vulnerability. It was nothing short of a masterclass in humanising leadership! This journey has been enriching in every way. As she wisely put it, learning from experience doesn’t always mean it has to be your own—you can borrow someone else’s drama for free! 2025: My Year of Stretch 🚀 I recently had the pleasure of attending an extraordinary event led by Executive Connect Club with the incredible organizers and moderators Nimo Kanina and Frank Molla. This was far from just another networking session—it was a treasure trove of insights, connections, and wisdom from "walking libraries,” as Frank Molla so eloquently puts it: 📖 The General's Daughter by Anne Muraya 📖 The Girl Who Never Cried by Risper Genga Ohaga 📖 The Coolest Dad (Authentic Leadership) by Martin Oduor-Otieno, PCC 📖 The Knight Without Armor by Dilip Pal 📖 The Nomad With Three Lives by Abdi Mohamed 📖 The Career Shapeshifter by Carol Musyoka 📖 The Girl Who Removed Her Mask by Mary M'Mukindia, MBS 📖 The Silent Dot Connector by Catherine Muraga 📖 The Barefoot Dreamer by John Gachora 📖 The Quiet Catalyst by Julius Kipngetich These untold stories of humanized leaders inspired and challenged me to grow. One key takeaway? The beauty of serendipity—that chance truly favors a prepared mind. As I step into 2025, I’m embracing this as my Year of Stretch (a lesson from Julius Kipngetich) ✨ Stretching beyond comfort zones 🤝 Building social capital over titular capital 🌱 Preparing to seize opportunities and create meaningful connections Here’s to adaptability, resilience, and collaboration—the timeless qualities that shape success. Grateful to have sat at the feet of wisdom and energized for what lies ahead. 2025, let’s go! Nancy Kathini #Serendipity #MeaningfulConnections #HumanizeLeadership #YearOfStretch

Reflection 🪩🪩🤔 As I ponder on the events of 2024, I find myself drawn to the moments that shaped my year. Just like the second law of reflection indicates, our experiences often mirror our actions. Each incident, whether big or small, has contributed to my understanding and growth. This year, I've encountered challenges that tested my resilience, but in every struggle, there was a lesson to be learned. I’ve realized that gratitude is a powerful force. It has helped me appreciate the highs and lows, turning obstacles into stepping stones. Looking back at what i have accomplished vs what i haven’t accomplished , i sought to find out why some things actually never worked and there goes my key lessons for 2024: 📌You just have to get started , DO NOT FEAR,DO NOT BE AFRAID 📌Success is built on a combination of essential elements. When any of these ingredients are missing, the result won’t be as fulfilling. Recognizing the importance of each component in the journey toward success helps me understand what I need to focus on moving forward. In data i have some answers to some issues around data: 📌There is nothing like good data what you actually have is the good data to bank on 📌Data is an investment for the future if you dont believe ( look at the economic crisis of 2008) 📌Data should largely be centered around the customer they are the only ones who can validate the hardwork 📌Data can be likened to an organization’s culture; it must be deeply ingrained within the fabric of the organization. After picking myself up and gathering the energy and psyche this is what i offer in 2025: 📌New Ordained evangelist of Data ( everything data, be keen to check out my articles) 📌Failing forward and being part of the solution 2025 is about scaling our impact - using AI and machine learning to create environmental solutions that don't just sound good, but genuinely transform communities across Africa. To every young dreamer believing technology can create meaningful change: keep pushing, keep learning, keep believing. Book of the year Finishing Strong by Steve Farrar , thank you The Men's Book Breakfast ~ The MBB for this wonderful opportunity to learn. Special thanks to Executive Connect Club for the amazing lessons and time to make 2024 memorable A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me in my journey of becoming better every day. Your encouragement has been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for the connections I have made along the way. Here’s to an inspiring and impactful 2025, filled with opportunities to grow, learn, and make a meaningful difference! 🎇🎆🎆🎆 #AfricanTech #AIforGood #SustainableFuture

As we come to the close of 2024, a year that can be defined as challenging in many ways, I can look back and find so many ways to be thankful. One of the things I'm grateful for is the opportunity to listen. Active listening is considered to be a future skill recognised as a crucial soft skill for success in the workplace. This year, I am so thankful for the multiple opportunities I was provided to sit at the feet of great leaders to just listen. I have listened to inspirational life-changing stories of regular people, some coming from very humble backgrounds who have beat the odds and become very successful leaders. It has been such a privilege to take a sneak peek into these leaders' lives and take great lessons from their leadership stories. These leaders have humanised their leadership journeys to the extent that one could believe that its possible to achieve even a fraction of their success. I want to especially thank Frank Molla, Romo House Africa and Executive Connect Club for curating these conversations and providing an extraordinary platform to learn. In this same year, I have also had the distinct privilege of speaking to an audience, and I can safely say, I will pick a day to listen over a day to speak any day! Sharing a platform with other HR leaders was wonderful but sitting at the feet of great leaders was a privilege I will cherish. As we welcome 2025, I will definitely look for more opportunities to listen. I hope you will too. Happy New Year!

Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: 2024 blew my mind. Seriously. When I walked into the year to execute all the initiatives for I&M Bank Ltd 50th anniversary year, I knew it was going to be big, but I didn't realize it would redefine my entire understanding of marketing leadership. This year wasn't just about campaigns - it was about crafting stories that matter. From our Golen Legacy celebrations and thematic campaign across East Africa to our stand out Ni Sare Kabisa campaign, our nomadic 📌 drop that toured the country as we opened more than 12 new branches to our market leading digital campaigns, every single day was about how we could reach and connnect with Kenyans and East Africans in a relevant and different way. Four posts that capture the journey: “ Marketer of the Year Award’ - “What a full circle moment “ https://lnkd.in/dsCmc-PY "Birthday Reflections" - Where I celebrated co-creating I&M Bank's 50-year anniversary: "This is a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. We killed it!" https://lnkd.in/dTq7z7Me “Leadership and team spirit” - On building a winning team & a high performance culture. https://lnkd.in/d4GGCn4d "Celebrating A Golden Legacy" - Sharing the privilege of curating an iconic brand campaign: "I was given a blank canvas to execute a momentous milestone campaign." https://lnkd.in/dDxGp7qy "Women in Marketing Conference" - Inspiring the next generation: "Sharing my 20-year journey and seeing young marketers believe they can 'Dare to Lead' was deeply fulfilling." https://lnkd.in/d39dNJAS Beyond the highlights: 1. None of this would be possible without God. 2. Working out 5 days a week on most months kept me sane. 3.Discovering Romo House - Africa and Executive Connect Club brought me clarity and perspective right when I needed it. 4.Laughing a whole lot with my team kept us going through some very hard times. 5. Family and a close circle of friends are invaluable. 6. There were things that went wrong or off plan and at every turn my team and I always reminded ourselves - we don’t fail, we only learn. To my incredible marketing team - you made the magic happen. Your creativity, commitment, and energy transform good ideas into extraordinary experiences.SELINE AWUOR Maureen Kabii, CIM Isabelle Ohaga Karanja Nzisa (MPRSK, MMSK) Jerioth Mutahi - Kiruthu Karanja Nzisa (MPRSK, MMSK) Joshua Omido Looking ahead to 2025: To Thriving! #MarketingLeadership #AfricanBrands #MarketingBaddie #LinkedInRewind #2024Wrapped -- Get your 2024 LinkedIn Rewind! Birthday Reflections: 1. Celebrating being a Marketing Baddie! I’ve had the most amazing and fulfilling year of my career. Co-creating and executing the I&M Bank Ltd 50 year anniversary celebrations is a once in a lifetime career opportunity. I’m honored to have been chosen to do this. We killed it! 2. A highly engaged team is a high performance team. I’ve built my team over the last one year and our energy, creativity and commitment is nothing short of amazing. They make me so proud! 3. G.R.I.T. I’m proud of my Guts, Resilience, Initiative and Tenacity. 4. I’ve laughed a lot this year and definitely smiled a whole lot more. 5. Motherhood has been very fulfilling yet very challenging. Often feels like a seesaw with an 18 year old and a 9 year old. 6. 10 months of consistently working out 5 days a week has kept me sane, made my mind sharper and kept me balanced. 7. Loss is difficult. Grieving, standing with my dad through his grief and still having to go through work and life has been hard. 8. Celebrated, cared for and loved on my people with all I had. Especially my parents. 9. Grateful for the gifts of my friends and especially my consigliere for guidance, wisdom, cheering me on, straight talk and correction. 10. GOD. Cece Winan’s song sums it up for me “ All my life you have been faithful, all my life you have been so so good.. with every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God. “ Here’s to Mwihaki at 45! Forty Fine💃!

Honestly, I took 2024 personally. It's been a pivotal year for my personal and professional development. The commitment and effort I invested in previous years are finally yielding significant results. This year, I expanded my real estate expertise into the international market, with Dubai serving as a crucial launchpad for my role in managing a project and leading a team at Opal Luxury Suites - Thindigua. The journey has filled me with pride, and I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped me. One key takeaway I am bringing into 2025 is the importance of discipline and consistency. It’s true that someone is always observing your efforts, and I’ve learned that effort, consistency and discipline pays off. I am also focused on building a personal board of directors to provide me with guidance and feedback as I continue to evolve both professionally and personally. I am enthusiastic about what lies ahead and eager to embrace new opportunities. If anything, I am mostly looking forward to being a member at the Executive Connect Club. This, I am excited about! To you, my LinkedIn family, I genuinely wish the best for each of you, however you define success. I hope that the coming year serves as a catalyst for new beginnings and leads you into your season of greatness. I invite you to consider investing in a unit at Opal Luxury Suites - Thindigua, and I would be honored to assist you throughout the process. I am here to support your real estate journey. Wishing you a happy new year! May you find the resources and support you need to thrive in all your endeavors. I look forward to helping you achieve your real estate investment goals. #Happynewyear #newyear2025 #realestateinvestment #Gemofthindigua #Opalnihome

Leadership lesson from Executive Connect Club having attended the first event for 2024 & on 14th December. Anne Muraya taught me that leadership is about embracing your journey, even if it doesn't align with what you initially envisioned. Anne inspires us to leverage our experiences as stepping stones to growth and influence, no matter how unexpected. 💡 Key Insights: ✍🏿Create Opportunities: Increase your chances of success by excelling in your craft and sharing your achievements confidently. ✍🏿Build Relationships: Cultivate connections with key individuals who can amplify your influence and offer learning opportunities. ✍🏿Learn by Observing: Attend significant meetings and observe how others lead, influence, and collaborate—this can be as impactful as formal mentorship. ✍🏿Pursue Clarity: Chart a clear path for your professional goals, set timelines, and let your excellence define you. 💡 Lesson: Leadership flourishes with clarity, determination, and a willingness to learn from every experience.
