About us
The primary objective of the Qualitative Research Association of Sri Lanka (QRAS) is to foster and advance qualitative research within Sri Lanka, with a particular focus on academic and organisational settings. QRAS seeks to bridge the gap between researchers, practitioners, and institutions by cultivating a robust research culture that highlights the significance of qualitative methodologies in understanding complex social, cultural, and organisational phenomena. To achieve this, QRAS is dedicated to creating awareness of: - The diverse qualitative methodologies and approaches available, which enable researchers to select and apply the most suitable tools for their inquiries. - The broad range of topics and contexts in which qualitative research can be applied, highlighting its adaptability and relevance across disciplines. In addition, QRAS is committed to promoting research linked to Sri Lanka, supporting scholarly investigations into the country’s unique socio-cultural and organisational contexts. Through these efforts, QRAS aims to position research conducted in the Sri Lankan context as a meaningful contributor to international knowledge and discourse. Our ultimate goal is to be the driving force that leads Sri Lanka towards a 'research-informed society'—a society where evidence-based insights guide decision-making, policy formulation, and innovation across all sectors.
