Kitron Lithuania had the honour of hosting guests from Royal Norwegian Embassy in Vilnius, including Atle Konta Midttun, the Ambassador of Norway to Lithuania, Counsellor Hege Araldsen, and Honorary Consul Vytautas Valaitis. We presented Kitron, highlighting our core activities and contribution to the region’s industrial growth. We also showcased our technologies through a factory tour and discussed key topics such as the local labour market, innovation, and Kaunas' dynamic business environment. This inspiring visit highlights the strong connections between Lithuania and Norway, and we look forward to further strengthening our partnership!

Launch of new #CivilSocietyFund, through the EEA, will allocate €10,6 million to Lithuania, to support civil society and defend democratic values in Europe. 🇱🇹🌍 Civil society organizations and other stakeholders are invited to share their ideas on the new fund in national consultations events. Norway remains key to strengthening energy security for the Baltic Sea region and Europe, driving energy independence and resilience. 🌎⚡️ Alongside the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University, we had the honor to co-host a guest lecture with research professor Jakub M. Godzimirski from the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. Tomas Janeliūnas and Dovilė Jakniūnaitė from Vilnius university contributed to fruitful discussion. 🏫🎓 The lecture emphasized Norway’s changing role in strengthening European energy security in the Baltic Sea region and beyond - drawing on lessons from the War in Ukraine. 💪🌱 Thank you to Jakub Godzimirski, Tomas Janeliunas, Dovilė Jakniūnaitė, and Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University | VU TSPMI, for a successful and insightful lecture! 🤝

🌎Did you know that Norway and the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) have played a huge role in the safe decommissioning of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in Lithuania? ⚡️ ☢️Last week, the Norwegian Embassy had the honor of visiting Ignalina and witnessing firsthand the impact of ongoing cooperation between Norway and Lithuania. With support from Norway Grants, the DSA has been a key partner alongside Lithuania’s State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate VATESI, in bringing invaluable expertise in nuclear safety, environmental protection and decommissioning strategies. ☢️ 🥼We were delighted to be accompanied by the DSA during our visit, and their ability to share insight into the work at Ignalina. 🇳🇴We were grateful to witness the success of the project “‘Improving the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant» from 2020, finished in 2024. The European Economic Area (EEA) and Norway Grants have been in the spotlight earlier this week, as we joined colleagues from Norway, Lithuania, Iceland, and Liechtenstein at the Annual Meeting. Through the Grants, the 117 million Euros allocated to Lithuania have been invested in areas such as justice, health, civil society, innovation and culture. At the meeting, Ambassador Atle Konta Midttun highlighted the importance of the EEA and Norway Grants as a bridge between our countries, emphasizing that the success of these programs comes down to the dedicated people working toward positive change. Last Thursday, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, Minister of National Defence of Lithuania, welcomed Norway’s ambassador to Lithuania for an important meeting. With NATO’s presence in the region stronger than ever, both nations reaffirmed their unity in safeguarding peace and stability in the Baltics.
