Creativity And Innovation For Development Through Advocacy

About us

The Ntha Foundation is a digital education trust dedicated to advancing socio-economic transformation across Africa by harnessing the power of creativity, innovation, and advocacy. Founded by Nthanda Manduwi in 2018, the Foundation is committed to empowering young Africans with the digital skills, knowledge, and tools they need to drive sustainable development and meaningful change in their communities. Our mission is centered on fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, with a vision to create sustainable businesses, generate employment, and contribute to the growth of the private sector across the continent. Through strategic communication and creative programs, we advocate for social and economic empowerment, helping young people unlock their potential and develop resilient, market-ready skills. At the Ntha Foundation, we believe that digital literacy and access to educational resources are crucial for Africa’s future. Our initiatives, such as the Nyenyezi Fellowship and M’mawa Apprenticeship, provide practical, industry-aligned training for university students, recent graduates, and emerging entrepreneurs. These programs bridge the gap between academic knowledge and market needs, enabling young Africans to navigate professional environments, start their own ventures, and become catalysts for progress. Through partnerships with universities, local businesses, and international organizations, the Ntha Foundation cultivates a network of innovators dedicated to building a prosperous and self-reliant Africa. We champion inclusive growth by focusing on underrepresented communities, equipping them with resources to succeed in a digitally-driven economy.

𝗠𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: What was initially (𝘪𝘯 2018) a small extension of my blog '𝗕𝘆 𝗡𝘁𝗵𝗮' (byntha.com), grew into a brand much bigger than I ever anticipated: the Ntha Foundation; empowering tens of thousands in Malawi and beyond. I am ever honored that the #NthaFoundation is closely aligned with me, and I intend to continue leading the incredible work that we do; but within that dream grew the #KwathuKollective—a people-centred brand, and it made sense to me that we allow that brand to break free, and grow in its own way. Reincorporating Ntha Foundation as the Kwathu Kollective was a big decision on my part, in constant consultation with my teams, stakeholders, and mentors. I speak more on the work of the #KwathuKollective in my keynote delivered at the YouthConnekt Africa 2024 summit: https://lnkd.in/dZ-HfH9e. I am quite excited for this new era—to see what Victor Caesar Gondwe, and the rest of the team achieve in the next year and beyond; as we continue to serve Africa. One of my favourite conversations this year—I sat down with Zodiak TV's Ruth Kulaisi, to talk about my journey building Ntha Foundation. She got to visit our #KwathuKowork (Kwathu Kollective) hub in Lilongwe, Malawi—to learn more about what we do. I share in this conversation more on our vision for the next few years, and what the future of both the Ntha Foundation and the Kwathu Kollective will look like. • As the year winds down, we are thrilled to announce that Ntha Foundation has officially undergone a transformative change. As of now, the Ntha Foundation in Malawi is incorporated under the new name, “𝗞𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘂 𝗞𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱, reflecting our deep-rooted commitment to empowering African creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Established through a Public Private Partnership with the Malawi Government in 2021 (as was funded by The World Bank), the Kwathu Kollective has been a space of innovation, collaboration, and growth—a culmination of countless personal sacrifices, financial investments, and unwavering dedication to a mission: to empower the African continent through entrepreneurship and creativity. This change is part of our broader strategy as we step into 2025: —Globalizing the Ntha Foundation: The #NthaFoundation is now incorporated ONLY in the United States, and we are shifting its focus to championing our global efforts, building international partnerships, and amplifying African innovation on the world stage. —Localizing the Kwathu Kollective: The #KwathuKollective—an African Creativity and Innovation network; including the #KwathuKowork hubs, will now operate as a distinctly African brand, collaborating with local and regional partners who share our vision of Transforming Africa. This shift signifies a slight pivot in our operational model. While we have set up our own hubs in the past, moving forward, we aim to expand our reach by collaborating with like-minded organizations, businesses, and governments to ensure that our mission of empowering African entrepreneurs, particularly youth and women, thrives across the continent.
