🌊Spotlight on the Baltic Sea Region 🌊   Hey LinkedIn followers. Today we would love to introduce to you our lovely platform members from Coalition Clean Baltic (CCB). 🌊What Do They Do? Since 1990, Coalition Clean Baltic (CCB) has been uniting environmental NGOs across the Baltic Sea region to protect and restore this precious ecosystem. With nearly 1.5 million members spanning the Baltic Sea countries, CCB’s mission is to safeguard the region’s natural resources and create a better future for generations to come. Their work covers crucial areas like marine and biodiversity protection, rivers restoration, organic agriculture, plastic pollution, hazardous substances and reducing underwater noise, aiming to inspire people to be part of the solution instead of the problem! 🙌🏻 Why It Matters The Baltic Sea is facing serious threats—from dangerously low fish stocks and underwater noise pollution to the protection of the critically endangered Baltic proper harbour porpoise, the only whale resident in Baltic waters. CCB’s projects tackle these issues head-on, promoting sustainable solutions, raising awareness, and advocating for urgent action. Protecting this vital marine ecosystem isn’t just about saving wildlife; it’s about ensuring a healthy, thriving environment for everyone who lives around and depends on the Baltic Sea. ✨ First Wins CCB has been hard at work, achieving impactful milestones like: 🚢 Red Noise Baltship: Bringing together stakeholders to reduce underwater noise from ships and boats, with a final project conference happening this December! 🌱 GRASS Conference: An annual gathering focused on promoting sustainable agriculture and organic farming to keep the Baltic Sea clean and nutrient-rich. This year edition will be held in the end of November! 🐋 Baltic Harbour Porpoise Campaign: Launching a petition that’s reached top government officials, demanding urgent measures to save Europe’s most endangered whale. 🌊 Plea for the Sea campaign: Taking bold legal action against the EU Council for ignoring scientific warnings and setting unsustainable fishing quotas for 2024 in the Baltic Sea. You can also advocate for a fair Baltic Sea, become a Herring Hero! The fight isn’t over, but Coalition Clean Baltic tackles all the problems with dedication and collaborative approach.
