🌍 SmartLivingEPC at the 10th REHVA #Brussels #Summit: Advancing Towards Climate Neutrality 🌍 On November 19th, 2024, the SmartLivingEPC project workshop took center stage at the 10th REHVA Brussels Summit, uniting #experts to explore pioneering strategies for achieving #climate #neutrality in Europe’s building sector. Under the theme "Innovating Energy Performance: Advancing Towards Climate Neutrality with SmartLivingEPC and tunES," the #workshop presented an impressive lineup of thought leaders and innovative case studies: 🔑 Keynote by Andrei Vladimir Lițiu (EPB Center): The EU’s pathway to climate neutrality and the evolution of EPCs under the recast EPBD. 🏠 Catalin LUNGU (REHVA President) showcased #SmartLivingEPC, emphasizing advanced energy performance assessments at building and district levels. 🛠 Tomasz Cholewa (Lublin University of Technology) presented #tunES, detailing the tuning of EPC and SRI instruments to maximize energy performance. The event culminated with an engaging interactive session moderated by Pablo Carnero Melero (REHVA), featuring insights from panelists: - Andrei Vladimir Lițiu (EPB Center) - Emmanuelle Causse (International Union of Property Owners (UIPI) - Alfred Gottlieb Freitag (Belimo) Discussions centered on the #challenges and #opportunities of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (#EPBD) and its implications for advanced Energy Performance Certification (#EPC). Key takeaways: ✅ EPCs are indispensable, yet their transformation is necessary to remain effective in driving energy-efficient renovations. ✅ From static to dynamic tools: future EPCs will incorporate metrics like the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI), Global Warming Potential (GWP), and Building Renovation Passports (BRP). ✅ Enhanced calculation methods and trained assessors are vital for EPCs to support both energy efficiency and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ). ✅ Mobilizing public and private investments is crucial to achieving the EU's 2050 decarbonization goals. New research published: Advancing Smart Building Readiness in Europe! 🏢✨ We are proud to share the publication of the study “Enhancing Smart Readiness of Buildings: Bridging the Knowledge Gap to European Citizens”, now available in the International Journal of Sustainable Energy. This research, conducted as part of the Smart Square Project, explores how the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) can accelerate the development of smarter, more energy-efficient buildings across Europe 💡🇪🇺. The study emphasizes the key role of the #SRI in assessing and enhancing #smartbuilding readiness, as well as the need to raise awareness among stakeholders and empower citizens to engage with smart building technologies. By offering practical tools and strategies, the research supports the EU’s vision of a smarter, more #sustainable built environment. 💡The #heatpump report, part of the #CETO series, is available! Take a moment to explore the many relevant insights into the heat pump market, including data on #sales, #capacities, #deployment needs and projections, #costs, #competetiveness indicators, and more. This report covers heat pumps for #buildings, #industry and #districtheat, providing an assessment on the EU’s #competitiveness and identifying potential bottlenecks and #supply risks. I’m honoured to have led this report, and I would like to thank all the authors for their contributions, especially Jonathan Volt for finalising the report during my maternity leave. Yesterday I had the privilege to attend REHVA Brussels Summit, Policy Conference focusing on "Pathway to Climate Neutrality Through the EPBD implementation". I especially enjoyed presentations and discussion on EPBD Recast implementation issues with Johann Zirngibl, Serena Pontoglio, Liam McDonnell and Jarek Kurnitski. Together with Pablo Carnero and Andrei Vladimir Lițiu I contributed in Interlude „Advancing Wastewater Heat Recovery in Buildings - Standardisation and Professional Guidance” highlighting: ✅ Role of technologies such as #heatpumps, #solarthermal and wastewater #heatrecovery, all relying on excellent thermal properties of #copper, in decarbonisation of space and hot water #heating. ✅ Importance of #standardisation work, bot at product and application levels in mainstreaming the wastewater heat recovery, as novel technology in buildings. ❗ ❗ ❗ The new REHVA Guidebook 34 titled” Instantaneous Wastewater Heat Recovery in Buildings” was also officially launched at the event, as important pillar in dissemination of knowledge to professionals. ❗ The new Guidebook can be ordered here: https://lnkd.in/dWFYjQ_B Guidebook authors: Pablo Carnero, Laurent Socal, Pavel Sevela, Tomasz Cholewa, Razvan Calota, Yangang Xing

Our project has been featured alongside the OneClickRENO project in a new article on EU_BUILD UP, the European portal dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy in buildings. Both projects seek to enhance the #energyperformance of the EU's building stock by consolidating multiple #EPB assessments into a single, user-friendly platform. This approach aims to reduce costs and streamline procedures while promoting standardised guidelines for efficient data usage and tracking. Read more ⬇
