🌟 Exciting Update from the SHINE Programme! We’re thrilled to announce that the research phase of the SHINE - Solar Hands-on training and International Network of Exchange programme has yielded valuable insights. In the coming weeks, we’ll release an insight paper, a short read, three country case illustrations and roadmaps for greening TVET in the solar energy sector. Greening TVET is a critical component of sustainable development, focusing on aligning technical and vocational education and training systems with sustainability goals. INCLUDE provides a research foundation that promotes greening TVET practices as a pathway to achieving a just energy transition. This transition aims to scale up clean energy supply, create decent employment opportunities for youth, improve access to affordable and reliable electricity, and ensure that no one is left behind. These resources provide the theoretical and empirical foundation for advancing the SHINE programme's goals. ➡️ Explore tools, guides, and resources designed to advance vocational training in sustainable energy solutions across Africa - https://lnkd.in/eGHJ4MPm. To deepen the conversation around greening TVET and sustainable energy solutions, SHINE recently presented at the GRETA webinar, "BUILDING GREEN – Together!" organized by the European Training Foundation. This webinar provided a platform to showcase SHINE’s research findings and approaches for advancing TVET in the solar energy sector. ➡️ Find the slides from the presentation below and discover how these ideas connect to SHINE’s ongoing efforts to create tools, guides, and roadmaps for greening TVET across Africa. #GreeningTVET #SHINEProject #SkillsForGreen #RenewableEnergy #GreenTransition #COP29 #Sustainability #VETEducation

Driving the Just Transition: Labor-Based Incentives and Youth-Centric Policies for a Sustainable Future 💡🌍 The side event, "Driving the Just Transition: Labor-Based Incentives and Youth-Centric Policies for a Sustainable Future," focused on actionable strategies to foster a fair and inclusive renewable energy transition in Africa. The discussions centered around labor-based incentives, youth-centered policies, and the intersection of equity, sustainability, and job creation. The outcomes reflect a unified approach to addressing Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities in the global energy transition. 🎯Victoria Manya set the scene for the panel’s conversation predicated on three critical points: 1️⃣ Africa has pressing needs, like job creation and energy access, to address energy poverty. 2️⃣ Africa contributes less than 4% of global emissions, so our transition must prioritize fair, localized strategies. 3️⃣For this transition to truly benefit Africa, we must base it on labor incentives that empower youth to take the lead. The event underscored the need for a youth-inclusive approach to climate governance, recognizing young people as indispensable partners in addressing the global climate crisis. Hon.Victor Afam Ogene: Advocated for accessible and equitable policies like tax breaks and vocational grants to empower youth in renewable energy. Dr. Nurgul Iliazova: Proposed aligning job creation with sustainability through demand-driven training programs and green bonds. Farida Ally: Highlighted the need for youth-friendly language, skills development, and platforms for youth participation in policymaking. Kgaugelo Mkumbeni: Emphasized social equity and proposed a "youth pledge" to guide inclusive and fair policies. Dr. Anika Altaf: Suggested that solutions should be locally grounded and co-created with youth to enhance their effectiveness and long-term sustainability. Solomon Abu: Championed nuclear energy as a clean, viable solution for Africa’s energy transition, challenging stereotypes that associate it solely with war. Find the detailed outcomes of the event on the slides below ⬇️ Next Steps: 🔧Develop pilot programs to test labor-based incentives and standardized training toolkits in key regions. 📣Present consolidated recommendations at COP 2024 and other global forums. 🗣️ Facilitate ongoing stakeholder dialogues to refine and implement youth-centric strategies. 🤝 Strengthen cross-sector partnerships to ensure equitable and sustainable outcomes. This event emphasized the transformative potential of labor-based incentives and youth-centric policies in driving Africa’s renewable energy future. By prioritizing inclusivity, equity, and sustainability, stakeholders can create a framework for a just transition that empowers young people and aligns with the continent's developmental goals. The actionable outcomes of this session provide a pathway for meaningful progress. #ClimateAction #JustTransition #LowCarbonFuture #COP29

Insights from COP 29: Toward Sustainable Living Communities 💡 🌍 At COP 29 in Baku, we had the privilege of presenting INCLUDE’s key messages on Africa’s low-carbon transition during the side event "Towards Sustainable Living Communities." This session brought to life the mantra: Think globally, act locally. The discussion underscored a vital truth—our climate challenges are global, but solutions must be locally rooted. Communities must lead in shaping policies that reflect their unique needs, aspirations, and lived experiences. Here are three key takeaways from our presentation: 1️⃣ Diverse Stakeholder Perspectives are Necessary in Africa's Low-Carbon Transition 2️⃣ The Need for Balanced and Inclusive Policies 3️⃣ Recommendations for a Just and Inclusive Transition Find the detailed takeaways in the slide below. The future of Africa’s low-carbon transition lies in localizing solutions, fostering inclusive growth, and ensuring that no one is left behind.  Let’s continue this dialogue at #COP29 and beyond—together, we can co-create a just, inclusive, and sustainable future. #ClimateAction #JustTransition #LowCarbonFuture #COP29 #SustainableLiving #AfricaForward
