What an inspiring Partner Event! Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at Danone in Utrecht for a dynamic, interactive event. Together, we explored the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in our shared mission to build a healthier and more sustainable food system. We were inspired by Kees Vendrik, Chair of the Dutch National Climate Platform, who delivered an insightful keynote on cross-sector transitions that challenged us to reflect on our roles in accelerating change within the agri-food sector. We are looking for a talented PhD student interested in microbial metabolism and plant-based fermentation. Located in the Systems Biology Lab at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). The position is part of a big NWO funded Project titled FERMI, where we will combine experimental work and advanced computational modelling to improve plant-based fermentations. 🌟 Call for Partners: Join “PREDICT” , a Public-Private Partnership in data-driven ingredient processing and application 🌟 organized by Next Food Collective and Wageningen University What if you could forecast the minimum level of processing required to obtain a functional plant-based ingredient for your food application? What if you could accelerate your product development by using predictive models for ingredient behavior? This project is being shaped by industry partners as dsm-firmenich, Upfield and Unilever, among others. They are coming together with strong knowledge partners to build capabilities and joint platform to change the way we process crops to ingredients and formulate ingredients to foods! Project Overview: This initiative is designed to leverage state-of-the-art technology and data science methodologies to systematically identify the functionality of differently processed (plant)-based ingredients and create predictive models on their use in food formulation. Our goal is to ease the usage of more sustainable, less processed ingredients and uncover promising properties for the targeted production of new ingredients, thereby contributing to the development of great tasting and more sustainable food products.
