Next Food Collective is a public-private partnership in which four organisations join forces: TiFN, Sustainable Food Initiative (SFI), Carbohydrate Competence Center (CCC) and Protein Competence Center (PCC). The mission of Next Food Collective is to accelerate the pace of sustainable and healthy food innovation. Bringing together multinationals, small and medium size enterprises and knowledge institutes, Next Food Collective will provide a new impulse to public-private partnerships in the agri-food domain. This new collaboration will enable its participants to translate sustainable and healthy food innovations more efficiently to products, services and/or policies and will coordinate large national and international funding applications.

What an inspiring Partner Event! Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at Danone in Utrecht for a dynamic, interactive event. We are proud that Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) has become partner of Next Food Collective, a leading Dutch organization that fosters public-private partnerships within the Dutch agro-food sector. 🗣️“The partnership between VU Amsterdam and Next Food Collective marks a shared ambition towards a healthier and more sustainable food production,” says Bas Teusink, professor in Systems Biology and scientific director at AIMMS VU Molecular Research Accelerator. 🎉 On September 5, we celebrated this partnership with an inspiring introductory meeting. Key figures from both VU Amsterdam and Next Food Collective were present to support this exciting initiative. Including Executive Board chair Margrethe Jonkman and Gerda Verburg, non-executive director of Next Food Collective. 🤝This collaboration opens up new avenues for impactful public-private collaborations, leveraging VU Amsterdam’s significant food-related research. In the coming weeks, our first joint project, Fermi is expected to start. This project is led by Herwig Bachmann of AIMMS and co-managed by Next Food Collective. De uitdagingen en kansen voor ons voedselsysteem blijven echter onverminderd groot. 🌟 Call for Partners: Join “PREDICT” , a Public-Private Partnership in data-driven ingredient processing and application 🌟 organized by Next Food Collective and Wageningen University What if you could forecast the minimum level of processing required to obtain a functional plant-based ingredient for your food application? What if you could accelerate your product development by using predictive models for ingredient behavior? This project is being shaped by industry partners as dsm-firmenich, Upfield and Unilever, among others. They are coming together with strong knowledge partners to build capabilities and joint platform to change the way we process crops to ingredients and formulate ingredients to foods! Project Overview: This initiative is designed to leverage state-of-the-art technology and data science methodologies to systematically identify the functionality of differently processed (plant)-based ingredients and create predictive models on their use in food formulation. Our goal is to ease the usage of more sustainable, less processed ingredients and uncover promising properties for the targeted production of new ingredients, thereby contributing to the development of great tasting and more sustainable food products. We are open to: Food Industry: Companies (aiming to) excell in functional low footprint ingredients and with a strong background in food science and/or data analytics.
