𝑼𝒏𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 #𝑰𝑪𝑵𝑹 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌, 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒍𝒐𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔, 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒔 (𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒋𝒂'𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒎𝒏 𝒔𝒖𝒏 🍂). 💡 In our special session “Enhancing and evaluating impact of wearable robots by user involvement: practical guidance” (WR04), we had a lively discussion about ways to involve users throughout design and development of #wearablerobots. Erik Prinsen, Anke Kottink and Gerdienke Prange-Lasonder illustrated RRD's pragmatic approach for human-centred design with three examples in different stages of development: a soft exosuit (SWAG Project), a thumb exoskeleton (#Thumbsup), and a soft-robotic glove (#Carbonhand). Marcela MUNERA added valuable insights on how therapists view wearable technology and what is needed, e.g. in PT and OT education, to reduce barriers for use in clinical practice.   💡 In the session organized by RELab ETH Zürich "Upper limb robot-assisted rehabilitation: from clinic to home" (WR10), the latest developments showed that robotic devices can enable less-supervised and fully unsupervised training in clinical practice. Gerdienke Prange-Lasonder contributed by highlighting the promise of #wearablerobots at home, using the therapeutic effect on hand function of the soft-robotic glove (#Carbonhand) as example. The session sparked an insightful discussion on the knowledge gaps and next steps for getting such promising technology available in healthcare. Roessingh Diagnostisch Centrum organiseert tijdens het aanstaande #DCRM2024 in Beatrixtheater Utrecht een symposium over de chirurgische behandelmogelijkheden van de bovenste extremiteit bij dwarslaesie, perifeer zenuwletsel en hersenletsel. Ellen Maas, Nora Jacobs, Leontien Bies, Ellen Veldboom en Merel Bijleveld hebben een mooi programma samengesteld waarin we laten zien hoe het multidisciplinaire team van Roessingh, Centrum voor Revalidatie samenwerkt met de plastisch chirurgen van Medisch Spectrum Twente in het neurohandchirurgie team Twente. 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒖𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆: 𝑹𝑹𝑫 𝒈𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝑪𝑯𝑰! In two weeks, the NordiCHI conference will take place in Uppsala, Sweden! Two articles written by RRD colleagues have been accepted as case studies. Eline te Braake and Marian Hurmuz will travel to Uppsala on behalf of RRD to present these articles. Eline te Braake will present the case study conducted within the RE-SAMPLE project about: attitudes of people with COPD towards health monitoring, risk prediction and virtual coaching. Based on the findings, several recommendations for design of future eHealth solutions will be presented. Marian Hurmuz will present the case study conducted within the STRIDER project about: the applicability of an adapted tool for mapping patient journeys and events, emotions and values during the journey. They used the adapted tool with stroke survivors, and she will present its usefulness in real-world healthcare research.
