We’ve always believed in the positive benefits of movement on the body, and the mind. It’s why we’re called ASICS which stands for ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano’, or a Sound Mind in a Sound Body. Our founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, saw that sport had the power to lift spirits, project positivity and propel people and whole communities forward. We still believe this. Which is why all of us are committed to supporting more people to move for body, and for mind.

    We have exciting news: We are thrilled to announce that our former Running Category Director, Andreas Moll, is stepping into a new role as Vice President of Category. 🎉     In this position, he will lead Marketing, Merchandising, and Product across EMEA, driving growth in Performance Running, SportStyle, and Core Performance Sports, including Tennis and Indoor. Andreas has been with ASICS since 2012, starting as a Merchandise Manager in Footwear. With 20 years of experience in the sports industry, he has a remarkable history of enhancing product categories and driving brand success in a competitive market.     “Andi has been instrumental in ASICS’s growth in our region since joining ASICS in 2012.     Every time I share ASICS events at the office on my Instagram stories, I get so many DMs asking if we’re hiring. Good news: there are a few open positions right now, so this might be your moment to shine! One of the most recent times this happened was during our Uplift Week in November. After a few editions, I can honestly say that the last one was one for the books! ✍ HR teams, don’t get me wrong, we all love a good massage (and I actually had one – my neck says thank you!), but wellness for employees goes way beyond that, and ASICS definitely understood the assignment. Being a Japanese company with such a rich heritage, we had the chance to dive deeper into Japanese culture. I joined a Taiko Drum workshop for the first time, and let me tell you – it was magical to play the drums in unison with all the other participants! 🥁 Very de-stressing as well! I also learned more about Ikigai, which is the Japanese concept of blending joy and purpose. If you're curious, check out "Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life" by Héctor García and Francesc Miralles. And that’s not all! We had origami, karaoke, and matcha stations, a Kakeibo masterclass (a Japanese budgeting method), plus workshops on painting, Marie Kondo, and Nemawashi – a process of building consensus before presenting a proposal to a larger group. So, where am I going with all this? To brag about the cool stuff at ASICS? Maybe! 😂 No, but seriously, I want to inspire HR, L&D, and Internal Comms teams in 2025 to create similar experiences for their employees (within budgets, of course). It’s a great way to motivate teams and strengthen their sense of belonging. When planning your company’s Wellness Week, here are a few things to consider: 1. How can you not only provide immediate well-being for employees but also teach them techniques for a more meaningful and balanced life? Give them knowledge they can carry with them after the event ends. 2. How can you tie your company’s values, heritage, and culture into activities that really matter? At ASICS, Japanese philosophies were shared to connect us with the company’s roots and deepen our understanding of another culture. 3. How can you create opportunities for employees to connect in meaningful ways? Wellness isn’t just about activities – it’s about building a community. When you foster collaboration and shared experiences, employees bond over something more than just work. Some of our employees hosted workshops or volunteered to help in the Japanese Village, which made the experience even more immersive and strengthened their connection to the company (and each other). 4. Ask the participants to fill out a survey. The Dutch have a saying, "meten is weten", which means “measuring is knowing.” To continue improving, you need to understand how your employees felt about the experience, what worked well, and where you can do better. Feedback is essential for creating even better experiences in the future. Happy 2025! ✨
