This week I had the honor of speaking about #Hydrogen and HydePoint at Energetic Future - Britain & Norway in Newcastle. The UK has some of the most ambitious emissions reduction targets globally, and it was great to engage with both British and Norwegian industry colleagues on how we can collaborate using emerging technologies to support the United Kingdom in achieving its goal. The conference was held at St James Park, and as a football mom the stadium view passes as the picture for the post 😀 Thank you very much to Kyrre H., the Norwegian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) and Tom Brighton at Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP) for organizing a very good event, and to ambassador Tore Hattrem for a nice evening reception.

Viktig at myndighetene lytter: Det er krevende å etablere storskala produksjon av både #lavkarbon og #fornybart #hydrogen, og det er betydelige investeringer som skal tas. Når de store energilokomotivene roper varsku, er det viktig at myndighetene lytter. Nylig har vi opplevd en flott åpning av anlegget for fornybart hydrogen i Hellesylt, for så å høre at Equinor og Shell ikke ser potensialet i markedet for lavkarbon hydrogen. I løpet av sommeren har vi dessuten sett at store klimaprosjekter som Yara International sin elektrifisering på Herøya settes på pause, mens Statkraft har skjøvet på sine hydrogenambisjoner. Selskapene peker blant annet på usikkerhet i markedet, behovet for risikoavlastning og avklaring av hvilke regler som gjelder. Disse henger tett sammen. Når det er usikkerhet rundt det regulatoriske, medfører det usikkerhet for produsenter, distributører, sluttbrukerne og teknologileverandørene. Vi skal ikke satse på hydrogen fordi det er enkelt, men fordi det er helt avgjørende for å nå #klimamålene. Hydrogen vil spille en helt avgjørende rolle for å kutte utslipp i de sektorene som er vanskelige å avkarbonisere. Her har Norge en unik posisjon til å gå i front. Foto: Ihne Bilder
