Om oss

In 1929, Jørgen Jørgensen, a Norwegian outdoor enthusiast, began his search for durable outdoor equipment to perform in Norway’s harsh and rugged land. Starting with simple innovations such as leather straps, canvas backpacks and cotton clothing, he set Norrøna’s direction: to search for the best in technical advancements, to create the ultimate in performance product. Today, four generations later, as traditional mountain life broadens, we are still a Norwegian family-owned and run company. We inherit from our forefathers our commitment to advance the boundaries of product function, with design-bred solutions to equip you with the highest-grade, protective, sustainable gear for your outdoor needs. We control the ultimate detail with the promise to bring you excellence through experimental, technical perfection assisted by our dedicated testers and ambassadors. From concept to creation, our in-house team of designers and craftsmen are compelled to stretch the edges of innovation. We build touchstone products, establish construction techniques, and redefine the meaning of fit, fabric, function and finish, based on our design principle of Loaded Minimalism™. Ethical trade and sustainability are essential in all parts of our value chain, and we believe that the only way to run a company is on a sustainable platform. We are completely transparent about our processes through our roadmap, ensuring we keep pushing ourselves towards reducing our environmental footprint and creating a positive impact.  Our vision: Welcome to nature Our mission: Make great products our way for people with an active lifestyle Our company values: Roots, Innovation, Passion Our design philosophy: Loaded minimalism™ – great products made as clean as possible with all critical details

    Retail Director @ Norrøna

Our kind of Black Friday. At Norrøna we never take shortcuts to make profit. We make products that last for years, so you don't have to purchase something new just because something breaks, gets worn out or goes out of fashion. Our business depends on cold, snowy winters, and lush green forests. Without nature, there is no us. That's our kind of Black Friday.

The most commercial season of the year is upon us. We encourage you to shop mindfully and perhaps think twice before you run your card hot. 🖤 Norrøna was established in 1929 with the purpose of making the highest quality outdoor products. We still have the same dedication. If you are able to use your product for 30 years, the carbon impact and the investment will for sure be on the good side. No matter how good the quality is, accidents and heavy use can sometimes require repairs. Since 1929 we have offered repairs to secure the longevity of our products. Near Norrøna House? Today we offer free repairs, as an alternative to the Black Friday shopping bonanza. More information at https://lnkd.in/dMgpdvRb Not near Norrøna House? We accept repairs all year through our stores and norrona.com. In other words: There’s nothing dark about our Black Friday. Your beloved Norrøna product will shine brighter after receiving some much-needed care.

One of the biggest environmental disasters, but also enormous opportunities through collaboration for restoration. Since the 1970s, an enormous area of 5,000 square kilometers along the coast of Northern Norway has transformed from lush kelp forest to barren sea urchin desert. This has led to a significant loss of carbon storage and biodiversity, as well as a loss of 50,000 tons of large fish annually. The cause is human activity, primarily past overfishing of sea urchin predators like cod and wolf fish. 🐟 The Norwegian Institute for Water Research has estimated potential for kelp restoration only in Norway to be: 50,000 tonnes of large fish annually 73 million tonnes of kelp biomass 12 million tonnes of CO2 bound in living biomass 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 that is stored for the long term annually Significant increase in biodiversity, binding of nutrients, and protection of the coast against erosion There is hope, and a win/win/win opportunity here. The Center for Marine Restoration (SMR) will be a powerhouse to turn one of Europe's biggest ecosystem crises into opportunities for future-oriented business development in Northern Norway and to achieve national climate and environmental goals. SMR will serve as an infrastructure that can be utilized by other actors, such as researchers, students, volunteers, startups, and larger commercial entities working on solutions in the value chain. 🎄 Participate in our Christmas calendar and contribute to the work of the Center for Marine Restoration’s work to restore kelp forest in Northern Norway. For each answer to our Christmas calendar, we donate $1 to the center in Lofoten to support their work in restoring marine kelp. Check out the video from the Ultimate Retail Experience Event at the Norrøna House back in October. The event was a collaboration between Insider Trends, Avensia and Norrøna. Great speakers including Jack Stratten, Ian Scott, Johan Sommar and our very own Bård Kvamme and Jørgen Jørgensen made the event interesting, windy (Storm Lab) and fun for everyone with their heart in retail. Addressing topics like consumer trends, shopper loyalty, the evolution of physical retail, retail challenges and of course learning more about the story behind the Norrøna House. More events to come... 😉 #event #norrona #outdoor #norronahouse

Together we've made exciting plans for the next winter collection and beyond. Here are a little taste for you, from our product presentation and talks with Jørgen Jørgensen, JOHAN PERSSON & Martin Lien.
