Abbott Residences marks the second stage of The Foundation, an upscale retirement living development in Parnell. Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026, this six-level building will feature 60 luxury apartments and a covered rooftop garden terrace, offering stunning views of the Auckland War Memorial Museum and Waitematā Harbour. Situated within the historic Parnell grounds of Blind Low Vision NZ, Abbott Residences is the second stage of three new buildings designed to blend harmoniously with the precinct’s rich heritage. Its architecture pays tribute to neighbouring Category 1 heritage-listed landmarks including the iconic Jubilee Building, Pearson House, and the nearby Museum. Named after John Abbott, who established the Jubilee Institute for the Blind in 1890, Abbott Residences follows the restoration of Pearson House (1924) which reopened late last year as the village’s historic gateway. The neighbouring 46-apartment Nathan Residences welcomed the community’s first residents in October 2023 and features ground-level commercial space, including premises for Blind Low Vision NZ. We thank Generus Living for the opportunity to collaborate in realising their vision of creating a world class haven of refinement, sophistication, and care – a retirement without compromise.
