Lyttelton Port Company is proud to announce the release of the first Nature-related Disclosures Report for any business in New Zealand. Our nature-disclosures report, published this week, marks our first attempt to quantify our impacts and dependencies on nature. LPC has a biodiversity positive ambition, with the goal to ensure positive actions for nature outweigh negative impacts. This report provides a foundation for understanding where we need to focus to avoid further loss of nature and work towards improving the state of nature. Our next steps include developing a Biodiversity Positive Roadmap and collaborating with catchment partners to transform our relationship with nature. Lyttelton Port will be the first Company in New Zealand to publish a report under the Taskforce for Nature Related Financial Disclosures framework. I was lucky enough to introduce the report at the Ports of Australia conference in Hobart last week. Our Environment and Sustainability team deserve all the credit so a big thanks to Kirsty Brennan in particular and the team of Phil de Joux, Crystal Lenky and Charlotte Jones. It's both tougher and more exciting to go first so look out for the report next week and give us feedback on how it can get better in the future. #TNFD #PortAustralia #mikegallacher

Yesterday the PortConnect team of Dana Folau, Christina Mackay, and David Knowles had the pleasure of being hosted by Abbey Clapp at Lyttelton Port Company. The focus was training sessions for the customer service / R&D teams on the PortConnect Track and Trace website. With the LPC data going live on Monday, 4 November, it is important that the LPC team are aware of what information is being displayed and what it means for customers. Additionally, customer training sessions will be set up in the next few weeks. There has been a huge positive response from the community that LPC will now be displayed on the PortConnect website, allowing users access to 85% of all containers transacted through ports in New Zealand. We were also treated to a tour of the Port. The recent infrastructure developments are certainly impressive, as was the weather, it was a cracking day! The first two of KiwiRail's new Stadler locomotives arrived from Spain! These state-of-the-art DM Class locomotives meet EU emissions standards. Funded by a Government investment, they are set to replace the aging DX freight fleet and improve freight transport reliability across the country. It’s great to be working in partnership with KiwiRail, and we look forward to the 55 more to arrive.
