As we move toward a low-emissions, sustainable economy, the way we grow & market food will evolve. Regenerative farming is an evolving practice that aims to lessen the environmental impacts of food production. Check out this month's blog article where we look into how combining regenerative farming with vermicast application enhances soil health, water retention & biodiversity by reducing synthetic inputs & improving ecosystem resilience 💪

The Kids Greening Taupō & Greening Taupō Arbor Day planting is happening again this Friday! It will be the 4th Greening Taupō Day - an event that's evolved from a planting event & fundraiser to an environmental festival for Taupō 🌳 To date, 250,000 native trees have been planted in partnership with the community. This year's Arbor Day will see 3,000 native plants being planted by 1,000 students (using MyNoke's vermicast to give them a boost!) as part of an urban corridor to bring back biodiversity to Taupō 🌏 In order to continue this awesome work you can donate to the cause via the website https://lnkd.in/g4AzijbG 🙌 #greeningtaupōday #kidsgreeningtaupō #greeningtaupō #target1000 #vermicast #communitysupport

MyNoke's latest Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory results are in! 📊 Over the period 01/04/2022 to 31/03/2023, MyNoke engaged sustainability advisor Justin Ford-Robertson to work with us to produce our second annual GHG emissions inventory report. A few key take-outs from the reporting period: 👉 142,867 tonnes of organic waste processed by our incredible earthworms 👉 23,630 tonnes of vermicast produced to improve soil health 👉 73.9% GHG emissions reduction when compared to alternative landfill scenarios 👉 77,320 tonnes reduction of CO2e emissions from alternative landfill scenarios MyNoke's operations emitted 27,251 tonnes of CO2e during the reporting period, averaging 191 kg CO2e for every tonne of waste received. Alternative landfill scenarios would have emitted 104,571 tonnes of CO2e, equivalent to 732 kg CO2e for every tonne of waste received. How the findings were calculated: Activity data was collated on several key areas, including our use of transport fuels & power, business travel, & the quantities & sources of organic wastes delivered to us. Also gathered was information on prior or alternative landfill disposal methods for each source of waste, enabling us to compare the environmental impact of vermicomposting with a traditional landfill scenario. We sourced emission factors from the latest Ministry for the Environment | Manatū mō te Taiao Guidance, utilising the factor for waste composting in the absence of a specific value for vermicomposting. This allowed us to calculate our emissions & assess our contribution towards sustainability. These achievements wouldn't have been possible without the hard work & dedication of our team & customers. Together, we're making a tangible difference in mitigating climate change & providing a more sustainable alternative to landfill for councils & industry 🤝 For more information get in touch via our website, www.mynoke.co.nz. #Sustainability #GreenhouseGasInventory #CarbonFootprint #EnvironmentalImpact #MyNoke #GoGreen #vermicomposting #wormfarming #soilhealth

What to do when you're the world's biggest earthworm farm, producing thousands of tonnes of vermicast every year & have an ethos that's all about supporting soil health? Enter our Target 1000 Programme 👋 Our mission: to donate 1000 tonnes of nutrient-rich vermicast to NZ community & planting projects 🌳 Vermicast, also known as worm castings, is a powerful organic fertiliser that improves soil health & boosts plant growth. By contributing to community gardens, urban green spaces & various other planting initiatives, we're committed to fostering sustainable & thriving environments. Why is this important? 🌱 Enhances Soil Health: Vermicast enriches the soil with essential nutrients, improves soil structure & increases organic matter. 🌱 Promotes Sustainable Agriculture: Supports sustainable farming practices & reduces the need for chemical fertilisers. 🌱 Strengthens Communities: Empowers local communities to establish more native plantings, to reduce erosion, improve water quality & store carbon. We believe that together, we can make a significant impact. If you're part of a community project or know of a planting initiative that could benefit from our vermicast donation, we want to hear from you! 👉 Feel free to like, share & comment to spread the word! #MyNoke #Target1000 #Sustainability #CommunitySupport #GreenInitiatives

Beneath our feet lies a bustling ecosystem where earthworms play a vital role in transforming organic matter into nutrient-rich castings, known as vermicast. In agricultural, horticultural and market garden operations, vermicast is gaining momentum as a powerful natural fertiliser and soil conditioner. To find out more dive into this month's blog where we cover the benefits of vermicast and share insights on its use from a kiwifruit orchardist, pine tree nursery and dairy farmer 👇 #soilhealth #earthworms #vermicomposting #wormfarming #kiwifruit #forestry #dairyfarming #agriculture #horticulture
