At Proxima, we’ve navigated transformations of our own—welcoming new team members, celebrating milestones, and expanding our horizons locally and globally. Amidst it all, we’ve stayed true to what matters: pushing boundaries alongside like-minded partners to create meaningful impact. 🌿 We launched the first Future-Fit Restaurant with Auckland Council, reimagining sustainability in food systems. 🌍 We partnered with Eco Choice Aotearoa, Sustainable Business Council NZ, and Sustainable Brands Aotearoa, engaging in bold conversations and solutions for a better future. 💡 We collaborated with our clients like Fonterra , Aktive, Crown Worldwide Group, ASB Bank, Ballance Agri-Nutrients Ltd, New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) and many more to drive transformative success through capability building and innovation. 🚀 Our team’s impact went global—Kat creating waves at SailGP, and our friends in Europe laying the groundwork for new opportunities. This year has been a reminder that progress is possible—even when the path forward isn’t always clear. As we look to 2025, we remain committed to driving positive change: environmentally restorative, socially just, and economically inclusive. We are very lucky to have Libby Holdsworth as a summer intern. She is currently conducting research on differences in intergenerational climate change attitudes and behaviour and investigating barriers young people may have to making changes in their organisation. 💡 What can we learn? We are hoping to learn more about what we can all do to empower organisations to bridge intergenerational climate gaps. This also links to opportunities for all voices to be heard and for the innovative minds of young people to be utilised. ▶️ What can you do? Our Future-Fit Restaurant event on the 8th of October was a huge success, filled with insightful conversations, meaningful engagement, and fresh perspectives on sustainability in the food and hospitality industry. There was a diverse range of voices in the room, from business leaders to sustainability advocates, to explore how we can collectively create a more sustainable and healthy future for food. Here are some of the highlights of the event: 🍴 Hospitality businesses are already making impressive strides in sustainability and are eager to do even more to reduce their environmental impact. 🍴 While businesses want to offer more sustainable options, customers often just want to enjoy a unique, indulgent meal—something they wouldn’t normally make at home, so there's a balance to maintain there. 🍴 It's better to take bold action toward sustainability, even if all the data isn’t perfect—waiting for full accuracy can mean missing important opportunities. 🍴 Food upcycling and vertical farming are some of the areas of innovation that we'll see more commonly in the future, so best to take these innovations on board now! 🍴 People love discussing food when they're immersed in a food experience. It naturally leads to deeper conversations about health and sustainability :) A big thanks to Auckland Council for partnering with us to conduct this wonderful event. Repair isn't just a technical act, or even simply an #environmental benefit; it creates an emotional #connection with products. Consumers who repair items—either themselves or through community initiatives like Repair Café Aotearoa NZ — often feel a deeper satisfaction and connection to the product. It’s about more than just sustainability; it’s a personal act of care, skill, and preservation. Repair Cafes foster a sense of community and connect people in many different parts of the world. We discussed shifting mindsets, environmental #consciousness, education and #awareness around repairability, pioneering brands setting the standards as well as how repairing products enhances our wellbeing, during our webinar yesterday "Repair over Replace: Transforming Consumer Choices" by Eco Choice Aotearoa. We heard from amazing panelists like Clare Hobby, Greig Brebner, Neal Brebner, Paul Smith and Saskia Verraes.
