What a special moment for Starship children, who were IN CHARGE of the Sky Tower light show! For many children in Starship, the Sky Tower is special. They see it from their rooms, they often draw it, it is a beacon of hope. Scotty Sky Tower had a special button where children were able to make their choice. They chose rainbow! Spiderman colours! Frozen colours! Christmas colours! We hope Aucklanders enjoyed the busy show! If you're wondering how you can support Starship this Christmas, please donate to our Christmas appeal: https://lnkd.in/gxxy9bAd

Building better health and brighter futures for our children.
About us
Starship is New Zealand’s national children’s hospital, firmly focused on accelerating world-class healthcare for all New Zealand children. There are nearly 140,000 patient visits to Starship Child Health each year including around 1000 outreach clinics where Starship clinicians offer specialist consultation and support to their peers all around New Zealand. Since 1992 the Starship Foundation has invested more than $150 million into Starship Child Health, making a real difference to New Zealand children every day. We invest in Starship’s National Air Ambulance Service, bringing children from all over New Zealand to Starship for life-saving care, latest advances in new technology and medical equipment, boosted family support and specialist staff training. In line with global best practice, we are increasing our efforts in research and innovation targeting an additional $5 million per annum. Help us bring better health and brighter futures to all of New Zealand's children. Charity number CC24272

Take a moment today to watch this remarkable story of how Starship’s world-class medical team brought a little girl’s voice back. This Christmas, we are raising funds to support the incredible work of Starship, including the Air Ambulance, which flew to pick up Aimèe from Blenheim in her time of need, and bring her to Starship for specialist medical care. https://lnkd.in/g-m6FaQm

Sending aroha to Kiingi Tuheitia's whānau, he was a wonderful patron of Starship and a treasure to Aotearoa. Moe mai ra.
Like many New Zealanders, I’m sending aroha and condolences to the whānau of Kiingi Tūheitia following his death. I feel very lucky to have spent time with him only two weeks ago at his 18th Koroneihana, especially now knowing his time left was so precious. He had an extraordinary aura about him and I will always remember this and feel grateful to have been in his presence. Yesterday, I attended his tangi alongside my Starship colleagues to pay our respects. He cared deeply about the health and future of Aotearoa’s tamariki and was an inspirational patron for Starship in his determination to improve health outcomes for Māori tamariki. Moe mai ra.

The Starship Foundation is honoured to conduct our work inside this beautiful space, so thoughtfully designed by TOA Architects. Only today, Starship's Māori Health team hosted their weekly hui inside Whiti Ora and said what a joy it is to be inside this building, the light, the colours which help give energy to their work. Congratulations and thank you 💜💛
Designed by TOA Architects, Whiti Ora is Starship Foundation's recently renovated research and innovation centre. Located at 111 Grafton Road, the design draws inspiration from a cultural narrative that was gifted to Starship by Dame Rangimārie Naida Glavish – a tale of the pīpīwharauroa bird who lays its eggs in the riroriro bird's nest, symbolising the care and nurturing that Starship provides to tamariki who are entrusted into their care. Shaw Contract Australia Color Frame carpet tiles were chosen for the flooring and designed as a wayfinding tool to guide people through the building, mimicking the niho taniwha pattern found in tukutuku panels. Artwork, vibrant colours and elements of nature create a therapeutic and engaging environment for children while representing Starship’s identity. TOA Architects have recently been honoured as Best of Region winners for the Whiti Ora project in the Shaw Contract 2024 Design Awards.👏 Find out more about the interior design here: https://hubs.la/Q02MZrMG0 #StarshipFoundation #WhitiOra #healthcareforchildren #tamarikicare #therapeuticenvironment #designingforhealthcare #interiorinspiration #notforprofit #Māoriart #NZculture #TOAArchitects #Jacobsen #awardwinningdesign

Thank you Mercury NZ, we feel so lucky to have you as our amazing Five Star Partner supporting Starship children. What a bright and gorgeous space the Respiratory and Sleep Lab is now thanks to your wonderful customers 💜 💛
Yesterday, we proudly attended the re-opening ceremony of the Starship Respiratory and Sleep Lab. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in providing enhanced respiratory services for our children at Starship, our national children’s hospital. Together with our wonderful customers, we are funding the refurbishment of the Starship Respiratory and Sleep Lab, located in Starship Outpatients. This follows Mercury’s $3.8 million investment to upgrade Outpatients which was completed in 2018. Thanks to our generous customers, the refurbishment means the Starship respiratory team now have a fit-for-purpose clinical space, which also offers a vibrant and comfortable space for patients and whānau. Kids like Charlie (pictured) will greatly benefit from this improved environment. Starship Foundation 💛 ✨ ⭐

London is calling! Starship Star Ruby Seeto stepped out of a quintessential phone booth to reveal her latest tea towel design, marking 15 amazing years creating tea towels with Wallace Cotton for Starship! This year she’s been inspired by her travels as she continues on her OE, creating the classic Starship Victoria Sponge. Despite Ruby being off on her big adventure, we are so grateful she still takes the time to create a new design each year – and even taking them along for the ride! Ruby started creating these designs 15 years ago after surviving cancer as an 11 year old. Since then, her collectable tea towels have raised over $750,000 for our national children’s hospital. Wow! Get your own Starship Victoria Sponge tea towel for just $10 and support the important work at Starship and its dedicated medical staff. https://lnkd.in/gN2a-gji

It may be small – but it sure is mighty! 💪🏽 Starship’s Rehabilitation Service has just received its very own nitrous oxide mixer – an incredible piece of equipment which will make a vital difference for children with cerebral palsy and other neuromuscular conditions who receive repeat botox injections to treat muscle stiffness. It’s thanks to our amazing Five Star Partner Barfoot & Thompson and their annual Quiz Night which raises critical funds for Starship that we were able to welcome the new mixer with a celebratory ribbon cutting recently! 💙🥳💜 It was an exciting moment for Starship’s Rehabilitation Service. Not only does the piped nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas) delivered by the mixer offer a safer alternative to general anaesthetic and speed up overall treatment time, it’s also the first time in Aotearoa New Zealand that nitrous oxide will be available for children needing botox treatment. A huge thank you to Barfoot & Thompson for ensuring Starship children receive world-class care! ✨
