You have the right to PROTEST! If you're considering participating in the Toitū te Tiriti Hīkoi, it’s important to understand your rights as a public servant. You have the right to express your views peacefully, but it’s also crucial to know how this aligns with your role and responsibilities. Now is the time to have an open and honest discussion with your manager about your rights to participate in the peaceful protest, and how you can do so while maintaining your professional duties. Here is some advice from the PSA that we shared at the time of the Toitū te Tiriti Activation. 💬 Start the conversation today—ask questions, get informed, and make sure you’re empowered to make the right choices. #ToitūTeTiriti #KnowYourRights #PublicServants #PeacefulProtest #OpenDialogue
With all the kaupapa happening this week, it is a reminder of the many pōtae Māori public servants are asked to wear. Here is a throwback to some guidance from the PSA on your right to protest if you are a public servant. Public servants by day, Māori 24/7. *Kia manawanui mai, there is a typo on slide #2, which should read services. 💥 He Māori Ahau 🗓️ Wednesday 26 June 🔗 www.terauhihiri.com

"...despite running a few events to date, we do not class ourselves as professional conference organisers. Just a group of friends who dream big, take the best of all our pūkenga and smash it together. Believe me, we do plenty of karakia and karanga to our ātua to guide us. We are hopeless addicts to the cause." Elena Higgison, Te Rau Hihiri Trustee, shares her reflections on He Māori Ahau as we wrap up and head into wānanga mode. At He Māori Ahau, the Mahi ā Tira session focused on co-designing a five-year mahere, harnessing collective strengths to achieve the vision of Hawaiki Mokopuna. It was a hard task to do within an hour but we made a great start. All of the Hawaiki Mokopuna rauemi - vision, activity guidance and mahere, are now available and downloadable on our website. We encourage you to download, share, wānanga, collaborate and feedback. What are you going to do to launch your waka today towards Hawaiki Mokopuna? https://lnkd.in/geEZXQiS #HeMāoriAhau #HawaikiMokopuna #MahiĀTira #Downloadable

Being politically neutral working in the public service doesn't mean being culturally neutral. Despite what feels like many attacks on many fronts, hope, ideas and solutions lie in our culture, our strength, in the mana of the collective. Being Māori is our superpower, and we can and should bring this into our roles in every way we can. #toitūtemanaotetakitini
