Creating a new energy future
About us
We are New Zealand's largest distributor of electricity and gas, owning and operating networks which span the Auckland region. Our vision is to create a new energy future, by identifying and developing solutions that provide customers with value, choice and reliability. We haven’t been afraid to challenge the status quo. As leaders of the transformation of the energy sector, we know the ‘same old’ just won’t cut it. We have the confidence to forge new solutions and for our people to work differently, to think differently. We have collaborated with global technology companies and thought leaders who share our view that innovation and digitalisation are key to meeting the future needs of energy systems and fast-evolving customer demands. As governments, businesses and consumers urgently take action to decarbonise, at Vector we are clear on our vision – creating a new energy future.

Recognising the great work of Aruhiko - Power Engineering Excellence Trust (PEET) connecting engineering talent with industry. Here at Vector, we're keen to support young people to become power engineers. #talent #engineering #technology #recruitment
Aruhiko PEET is very pleased to welcome Vector as a new member in 2025. As the largest electricity distributor in New Zealand, Vector owns and operates networks spanning the Auckland region and is one of the largest companies on the NZX. Vector’s membership will be a significant boost for Aruhiko PEET’s undergraduate scholarship and student engagement programmes at both University of Canterbury and now at The University of Auckland in 2025. We very much look forward to working with both Vector and our wider membership as we collectively grow the talent pipeline for the new energy future. 🌈 Happy Pride, New Zealand! 🌈 As we celebrate the vibrant and diverse rainbow community, it’s also important to take a moment to reflect on our mental health. At Vector, we're committed to fostering a supportive environment, and as part of our celebrations, we’re thrilled to have hosted a talk from Tommy Hamilton, owner and counsellor at TKH Therapy. Tommy, a narrative therapist, educator, artist, and mentor, works alongside multiple rainbow communities and allies across Aotearoa. He shared valuable insights on mental health and wellbeing from a rainbow perspective: ✨ Rainbow allyship in the workplace ✨ Mental health tips and techniques for relaxation and resilience ✨ Rainbow support as a parent/caregiver for youth ✨ Transgender wellbeing and support in the workplace These topics, though talked about through a rainbow lens, are universal in promoting inclusivity and support for everyone. Let’s keep the conversation going, not just during Pride but every day! 🌈💙 #Pride #AucklandPride #pride #inclusion #diversity #lgbt+ #rainbowpride

📈 The energy sector is a critical enabler of business and growth, and ensuring that there is a secure, sustainable and affordable supply is vital to drive New Zealand’s economic growth. We fed in to Simon Bridges’ Energy Action Plan, ‘Unlocking the energy sector to unlock energy growth’ at a critical time for the sector. This practical and realistic plan documents 10 important energy policy actions to ensure New Zealand fulfils its economic potential as a country. The plan was developed by the Auckland Business Chamber and the Northern Infrastructure Forum, and builds on the collective input of around 60 energy sector leaders. ➡️ Read more about the Energy Action Plan: https://lnkd.in/gx3D7ss3 #EnergyActionPlan #EconomicGrowth #BusinessGrowth

‘Data makes friends’ 👫– a phrase, courtesy of Kari Jones, that has stuck with us! At the end of last year, we were lucky enough to have Kari Jones, executive director for transformation and operational delivery at the Financial Markets Authority - New Zealand join us to talk about data transformation in the workplace. It was a really captivating conversation, hosted by Mark Toner, our chief public policy and regulatory officer, with Kari sharing so much wisdom from her experiences of improving performance across different businesses. We heard about why nurturing a data-centric culture is so important for future success and how everyone has a role to play in making it happen; she also highlighted the importance of having a genuine curiosity in what other teams are doing, and the power behind having teams that ‘run together’ to achieve an outcome - all reinforcing the importance of collaboration. A lot was covered so if you’re keen to hear more about quantifying that hunch, using data to help identify what matters most in line with business goals, and how Kari’s parallel passion of sport leadership has helped fuel her own leadership journey – take a watch of the full discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gJ2EAN-w 👏 Thank you once again Kari for such a motivating and entertaining talk. #challengeyourself #data #technology
