Skype Therapy – Home-based Psychotherapy Service
The primary focus of Mindfulness Therapy is to treat the underlying psychological cause of your anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, stress, PTSD and emotional trauma and other forms of emotional suffering rather than just trying to manage symptoms through medication.
Almost everyone who seeks my help has already tried medication or conventional counseling and are definitely looking for an alternative approach, a more holistic approach that focuses on healing rather than just trying to reduce symptoms. We want to be FREE from anxiety and depression, not just endlessly try to manage symptoms.
Everyone that I have worked with really benefits from the Mindfulness Therapy approach that I teach for healing emotional suffering…
“After 8 years, two therapists, many self-help books…..my hypochondria and OCD was worse than ever. I figured I would just have to live like this and deal with it. I put on a good show in front of people and cried alone. Then, I stumbled upon Peter’s website. I figured this was my last attempt. Peter is kind, understanding, and patient. He helped guide me out of the dark and see the light. He is truly there to help. He never looks at his time during sessions. I would have to remind him that time is up. His rates are reasonable so everyone cam get proper therapy. He gave me practical tools to use to overcome my anxiety. He is always available via email for advice. He truly cares about the progress of his patients. Peter changed my life and gave me the chance to enjoy my life again. I am eternally grateful to him.”

Skype Therapy – Skype Counseling Therapy Service
Welcome. My name is Peter Strong. I’m a professional psychotherapist and I offer Skype Therapy. Skype counseling and therapy is a very effective way of working with difficult emotions without using medications but rather learning ways of working with your emotions using mindfulness therapy, which is what I teach online through Skype.
Medications may have some value in some cases but it’s important to realize that they only treat symptoms, they do not change the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression. That the underlying cause is basically psychological in nature for most people most of the time. It is a habit. It is a form of reactive thinking and emotional reactivity and behavioral reactivity that all feeds particular emotional formation of anxiety or depression or OCD or addiction. These are habits. Habits can be changed and when you learn the mindfulness techniques that I teach, you will be able to change your anxiety and depression, you’ll be able to break free from these habits.
The first thing to understand is that all habits operate essentially unconsciously out of awareness on autopilot. This is the biggest problem that we have to overcome straight away. We have to develop a much more conscious awareness around our emotional reactivity. We have to bring consciousness to our anxiety or depression instead of running away from it or trying to find a distraction from it or through medications, which is really just another form of avoidance.
So bringing conscious awareness to our habits is the first step in changing those habits. And that we do in mindfulness therapy by actually meditating on our emotions and on our intrusive thoughts and on our emotional trauma, whatever it might be. We learn to meditate on the mind, on these emotional habits. This means that we deliberately choose to bring the painful emotion or the intrusive thoughts into the mind, but consciously under our direction, rather than have them just show up unconsciously due to the habitual reactivity. So this is the difference. Bringing them in consciously puts us in a place of power in relationship to those emotional habits.
Then we can begin to cultivate this conscious relationship and in so doing we gain more and more freedom. We can essentially sit with the anxiety or depression and not be controlled by it. So this is a training process. We are choosing to train with our emotions so that we gain more and more freedom. Even if they are there. Even if anxiety or depression is still triggered we are no longer controlled by our emotions. That’s the first goal of mindfulness therapy and mindfulness meditation: to gain freedom.
The mindfulness therapy approach that I teach by Skype is immensely effective and you should and you can expect to see significant changes after the first two or three sessions once you start applying the techniques that I will teach you in the first couple of sessions. So it’s a very fast way of achieving quite substantial results. So that’s another thing that I like. It’s not like classical talk therapy. That tends to be very long winded and doesn’t really give you tools for resolving your emotional suffering. In Skype Therapy move very fast. We train in a very focused way using mindfulness based methods.
So if this interests you please contact me by e-mail and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. Let’s schedule a trial Skype Therapy session so you can see for yourself whether this approach is right for you. It certainly is for the vast majority of people who are struggling with anxiety or depression or addictions. So please contact me if you’d like to schedule’s Skype therapy. Thank you.

Skype Therapy -The Benefits
Traditional counseling can be helpful, but often common talk therapy does not transform the habitual psychological process that is the real cause of your anxiety and depression.
The same can be said for medications – the prescription medications may reduce symptoms for a while, but medications are not going to transform the underlying psychological process that causes the anxiety or depression.
The school of psychotherapy that I provide is called Mindfulness Therapy, which can be extremely effective for controlling chronic anxiety and for treating depression and other psychological issues resulting from conditioned negative thinking. Most people notice quite significant changes after 3-4 sessions of Mindfulness Therapy.
Skype therapy is a very convenient option if you are living abroad or if you are living in an area where it is difficult to find a psychotherapist to work with, if its a rural area or if you are living in a foreign country. It may be difficult to find a local therapist.
Also, a lot of people are looking for alternative to the traditional medical approach to psychotherapy. A lot of people are looking for newer styles of psychotherapy such as CBT or Mindfulness Therapy, which is what I offer online. It’s about really learning how to take charge of your own emotional well-being, by learning practical, effective skills and methods for overcoming tour anxiety or depression or other emotional suffering that is affecting the quality of your life or relationships.
The mindfulness techniques that I teach and offer online in these counseling sessions is particularly effective for overcoming anxiety.
When I talk to people in this position, it becomes immediately clear that even though they have done all this work on their anxiety or panic attacks, they have never actually looked at the mechanism that produces that anxiety – the underlying emotional reactivity and how that works.
It is really important to actually look and see how the anxiety works, and this is one of the characteristics of Mindfulness Therapy. Rather than talking about your anxiety or your family history or trying to uncover repressed memories or other potential trigger points for your anxiety.
We really examine the mechanism of how it operates right now, because that is what you can change. You can change the actual structure of the emotional reaction itself through mindfulness. This often involves looking at the imagery of the emotion. This is quite an interesting area for most people.
All emotions are based around psychological imagery that forms in the mind. That imagery essentially is an organizing principle that holds that emotional energy together and creates an emotion like anxiety or depression or anger. They will all have different imagery.
During Mindfulness Therapy we take great interest in uncovering this imagery. We look at it by focusing on the emotions themselves, directly, to see what is there. So, this very direct approach is a characteristic of mindfulness, and Mindfulness Therapy as I teach it and have developed over many years now, really focuses on helping you change the imagery of the emotion, because when you change that, you change the emotion quite significantly. The imagery is an absolute requirement for an emotion. If you change the imagery you change the emotion. So, that is one aspect of Mindfulness Therapy.

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong and I am a mindfulness-based therapist, living in Boulder, Colorado, and I provide Skype Therapy.
Therapy via Skype is a very convenient and very effective way of getting the help that you need to overcome anxiety or depression or addiction or any other emotional suffering that you may be experiencing.
The mindfulness techniques that I teach during these online therapy sessions are very well designed to help you break free from the habit of emotional reactivity, that process by which you become identified with and overwhelmed by emotional reactions and reactive thinking.
When we develop mindfulness skills we are actually learning how to become an observer, how to witness thoughts and emotions without becoming identified with them, without becoming reactive and without becoming overwhelmed by those habitual patterns.
This is the essential fist step in any kind of transformation process, you have to learn to see what is there without reacting to it. This is what we call awakening. You learn to awaken to the contents of mind instead of reacting to the contents of mind.
When you can see emotions and thoughts and the habitual processes that produce those emotions and thoughts clearly, when you can see them clearly, then choice arises. You begin to develop a sense of not being the same as your mind, not being the same as the content of your mind, but actually being the witness, the observer that is separate from the contents of mind, and can therefore begin to develop choice based on wisdom, based on what feels better and what leads to healing and well-being.

Skype Therapy with Dr. Peter Strong
Does Skype Therapy work?
Skype therapy is certainly as good as conventional in-person psychotherapy or counseling and may even be better in some cases. Certainly, it is an excellent choice if you can’t leave home for one reason or another or if you suffer from agoraphobia or are limited by a driving phobia (both of which I treat online).
Welcome. My name is Peter Strong and I’m a professional online therapist offering therapy via Skype.
So I’m often asked “Does Skype Therapy work?” “Is Skype Therapy as effective as conventional therapy in a therapist’s office?” “Is therapy over Skype as good as psychotherapy in person?”.
And the answer is it most certainly is. What’s much more important is not whether the psychotherapy is delivered in person or online, but the style of psychotherapy and the competence of the therapist who is offering that particular style of therapy.
So there’s a vast range of approaches to psychotherapy and some are very much more effective than others. For most common psychological problems like anxiety or depression, generally I recommend what I call process-oriented therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT, and also Mindfulness Therapy or Mindfulness Meditation Therapy, which is related in some ways to CBT, but with a greater emphasis on working with emotions and the underlying structure of your experience, how you actually produce anxiety and depression, how it has triggered in the mind, how that works.
So really that’s the most important thing. It’s really important that you use some form of video format like Skype or FaceTime so you can see each other, as well. If you can see each other as well as speak to each other in real time, then Skype Therapy becomes just as effective as in person therapy. And from my experience over the years Skype Therapy definitely has advantages. One of which is it’s more convenient and more comfortable for you, the client.
It helps you feel more in charge of the process. You feel more empowered because you are conducting the therapy session from your own home or place of work on your terms, rather than going to a clinic or therapist’s office for some kind of treatment. That tends to actually increase the sense of being helpless, being a victim. And we certainly don’t want that. All psychotherapy should focus on enabling you and making you feel more empowered, more in charge of your emotional well-being. So that’s one advantage of Skype Therapy. It tends to do that. And that’s one of the reasons why I specialize in Skype Therapy.
I see more more clients that way than in person these days. So if you’d like to learn more about Skype Therapy and its effectiveness I recommend that you do a simple Google search for “the effectiveness of Skype Therapy or online therapy” and read the articles that have been published. There’s quite a lot of research out there now showing the equal effectiveness of online therapy, especially when you are using a process-oriented form of psychotherapy like CBT or Mindfulness Therapy.
But please contact me if you have any questions so we can assess whether Skype Therapy will be effective for your particular needs. It’s certainly very effective for anxiety and depression and things like OCD and also for working with addictions. That’s another area where online therapy can become very, very useful, in the treatment of addictions, because many people are quite ashamed of their addiction. They don’t want to join a group, they would rather work with some degree of privacy and that’s offered by online therapy, of course.
So go to my website, learn more, do some research, and then if you want to schedule Skype Therapy with me, simply go to my Contact Page and email me and we can schedule a Skype Therapy session at a time that works for you.
I see people throughout North America, Western Europe, United Kingdom, Ireland, and as far away as Canada and Australia, and so on. All you need is a good internet connection and you can usually have no problem at all with with getting the appropriate level of quality of Skype to allow you to have Skype Therapy sessions.
