The British Embassy in Philippines maintains and develops relations between the UK and Philippines.
Tungkol sa amin
The British Embassy in Philippines maintains and develops relations between the UK and Philippines. Both the UK and the Philippines are outward looking island nations committed to democracy, trade and investment, and support for the United Nations. As well as close government-to-government relations, the two nations have contacts at all levels of civil society. We are also here to support and protect UK interests in Palau. We develop the already close and substantive bilateral relationship by focusing on several important areas of co-operation such as: human rights issues, environment, economic development, disaster planning, international crime and terrorism and maximising commercial opportunities for British business. Britain has major investments in the Philippines concentrated in power, energy, agri-business, transport, water and financial services. Bilateral trade is worth around US$2bn annually, with the balance in the Philippines’ favour. The UK is one of the largest foreign investors in the Philippines.

The Philippines is taking big steps forward on renewable energy. They're partnering with Innovate UK's Zero Emissions Generator (ZE-Gen) Progamme to replace fossil fuel generators with renewable solutions. Innovate UK brought British energy companies to Manila and Cebu to have a better understanding how to best partner with the Philippines. These companies specialise in solar, battery storage, off-grid solutions, and energy efficiency. This visit, held in September 2024, was part of Phase 1 of the programme. Current insights will help refine solutions as Phase 2 approaches.

Congratulations to Bai Farishah Karon and Hannah Maxene Ngo for winning our "Ambassador for a Day" competition! Bai, from the Bangsamoro Region, is a student leader and campus journalist. Her interests are astronomy, politics, broadcasting, and arts and crafts. Meanwhile, Hannah is from Luzon. She's a consistent honor student who enjoys economics, reading, and cats. They were chosen from among female students ages 14-17 across the Philippines, based on their inspiring essays on building a society free from violence against women and girls. They will be spending a day with 🇬🇧 British Ambassador to the Philippines, Laure Beaufils, to learn more about diplomacy and international relations.

The UK is contributing £1 million (Php 74m) to help the PH government with its humanitarian response following six typhoons in the past month. This will help the most vulnerable in affected communities with cash assistance and critical services such as water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. The bilateral contribution is on top of our support to other programmes already helping the disaster response in the country: Star Network (£595k), IFRC-DREF (CHF900k +), and UN Philippines CERF ($3.5m). 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gWmefNxB 📸 Photo by WFP Philippines
