By investing €1 million in MadoquaPower2X’s design phase, Invest International contributes to a broader European strategy to reduce fossil fuel dependence. This project aims to cut CO₂ emissions by 450,000 tonnes annually.  ✅ Green hydrogen is a key pillar of a fossil-free future, yet early-stage funding remains scarce. The green hydrogen sector has associated high risks and costs and is often not yet financed by traditional banks. That’s where Invest International comes in. Like Investment Manager Tim Zijderveld comments: "When other financiers say no, we have another look".  This investment supports development and positions Rotterdam as a key transit hub, with Dutch companies playing a vital role in the logistics chain. 🚢 More Exciting News from Madoqua: Pioneering a Green Corridor for Europe's Energy Transition! 🌍⚡ Building on our partnership with the Admnistração do Porto de Sines, Port of Rotterdam, and duisport - Duisburger Hafen AG announced in early November – today on Tuesday (10/12/2024), a range of leading industry players have signed an MOU to operationalize this Green Corridor.    The signatories of this MoU will combine their sustainability priorities and apply their collective expertise to advance the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries and the shipping sector in Europe. CIP’s Energy Transition Fund signs MoUs with leading shipping companies to develop ammonia-fueled carriers.   As a leading developer of clean ammonia, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund (ETF), aims to provide end-to-end solutions for the safe delivery of clean ammonia to shipping companies.   ETF has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BW Epic Kosan to develop handy-sized ammonia carriers. These carriers will be equipped with dual-fuel ammonia engines and bunkering capabilities. Additionally, another MoU has been signed with Færder Tankers Norway to develop a 50,000 cbm ammonia carrier.   Niels H Lindegaard, advisor to the ETF Sustainable Marine Fuels teams, said: “Our objective is to facilitate the green transportation of clean ammonia by utilizing the cargo as fuel. Thanks to ADIPEC Exhibition and Conference for the opportunity to share the “Green hydrogen: project developer perspective” alongside Simon Flowers, Brian Maxwell, Alexander Tancock and Giuseppe Surace in Abu Dhabi. It was great to share some of the exciting progress of Madoqua projects, which include the MadoquaPower2X, MadoquaSynfuels, #MadoquaGreenFuelsTerminal and #MadoquaPowerAssets.  Our work on MadoquaPower2X with partners like Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, emphasise the importance of taking power procurement into our own hands with active development across Portugal, and the difference that support from government stakeholders like CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency has made as part of their #H2BankAuction award to MadoquaPower2X. Initiatives like Madoqua's Portuguese-Dutch-German green shipping corridor that we announced last week with Admnistração do Porto de Sines, duisport - Duisburger Hafen AG and Port of Rotterdam are also critical in building the storage, terminal and refueling infrastructure required to take cost out for alternative fuels.

🚢 Exciting News from Madoqua: Pioneering a Green Corridor for Europe's Energy Transition! 🌍⚡ This Tuesday (05/11/2024) marked a transformative step as Madoqua, together with the Admnistração do Porto de Sines, Port of Rotterdam, and duisport - Duisburger Hafen AG, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a "Green Corridor" connecting Portugal with the Netherlands and Germany. This strategic partnership, supported by the Portuguese government, will enable a renewable supply chain for green hydrogen derivatives, including ammonia (MadoquaPower2X) and methanol (MadoquaSynfuels), as well as liquid CO₂. Through MadoquaPower2X, Madoqua is set to construct one of Europe’s largest green hydrogen and ammonia projects in Sines, backed by a partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Power2X. This industrial-scale project (1.2 GW) represents a €2.8 billion investment across two phases and will create over 150 direct and 2,000 indirect jobs. Powering the Madoqua Green Fuels Terminal will significantly strengthen Europe’s green fuel supply network. 💡 Key Highlights 💡 🌱 Green Fuel Exports: Moving hydrogen derivatives as well as CO2, this corridor will serve as a gateway from Southern Europe to the industrial heart of Northern Europe. 📍 Sines as a Green Energy Hub: Strategically located along key Atlantic shipping routes, the Madoqua terminal in Sines will anchor this initiative, powered by renewable sources to build a resilient, sustainable energy supply chain. 💸 Investment & Scale: With a dedicated €500M investment, this corridor will drive green hydrogen production and distribution across Europe, advancing the shared goal of a low-carbon future. 👀 Shared Vision for EU Decarbonization: This partnership aligns with the EU’s decarbonization goals, enabling cleaner energy systems, enhancing Europe’s energy security, and building industrial resilience. As Marloes Ras, CFA, Madoqua co-founder, highlighted, this initiative embodies a shared commitment to connect producer and consumer nations, advancing the green transition through collaborative action. Selected as one of Europe’s core projects for CEF Energy funding by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, the Madoqua Green Fuels Terminal in Sines will be integral to the infrastructure supporting the energy transition. This corridor represents not just an innovation in transport, but a foundational shift towards a sustainable, interconnected Europe.
