  • This week's Science After work was all about Carmeda AB and Heparin: history – present and future! We also had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know several members of the Carmeda team. And we really loved to contribute to your 40-year anniversary celebration! Your achievement is impressive! Wonderful as always to gather the community. What a perfect finale to this autumn’s Science After Work series that we always arrange together with A Working Lab. We learned i.a. that:   💡 Erik Jorpes, professor of medical chemistry in the Karolinska Institutet, identified the chemical structure of heparin and developed its clinical applications. The heparin prevents the blood from coagulating or clotting.   🔍 The CARMEDA® BioActive Surface is a heparin-based coating designed to actively reduce thrombus formation on blood contacting medical devices. 📄 More than 750 global scientific reports have been published on the chemistry, biological properties, safety and clinical performance of the CARMEDA® BioActive Surface technology. The publications are in the area of basic science, experimental in vitro and in vivo, clinical and review articles.   Thank you Anna Gällhagen and Emil Weitoft for the presentation about Carmeda  and sharing your journey from the start till today. #carmeda #karolinskainstitutet #sciencepark #campussolna #hagastaden #aworkinglab

  • A big thank you to Nina Rawal from Trill Impact for starting our November morning on such an inspiring note! Investments are always top of mind for the community at KI Science Park and KI Innovations AB, and having someone like Nina—who can truly guide us through today’s challenging investment landscape—is invaluable. Nina generously shared insights from an investor's perspective on what it takes to succeed in a tough market. Here are her three unmissable takeaways for anyone looking to attract venture capital: 1️⃣ Build World-Class Know your market from day one. Be bold. Think globally. Success demands ambition and a global mindset right from the start. 2️⃣ Products Don’t Sell Themselves World-class science is just the beginning. Knowing the right people is equally critical. Start networking early—much earlier than you think. Building the right connections takes time. 3️⃣ Entrepreneurship Isn’t for the Faint-Hearted Surround yourself with a strong team that has your back, no matter the challenges ahead. A resilient team is your greatest asset. ✨ A heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us, to A Working Lab for co-hosting, and once again to Nina for her inspiring contributions. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events! Check out the KI Science Park calendar to learn more and register: https://lnkd.in/dFVgRZSZ #CampusSolna #Hagastaden #LifeScience
