Matti Malminen (Konecranes) has closed 2024’s GTR Nordics conference, by sharing his unique insights gained from a 40 year career within the trade finance industry, spanning the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the introduction of the internet to the global financial crisis of 2008, and lastly the global pandemic in 2020. Touching on the birth of #digitaltrade #finance in Finland and the future of #tradedigitisation, Matti shared the lessons learned related to country risk, letters of #credit, #exportfinance and political risk insurance through many black swan events, economic booms and busts and addressed how the market can prepare for the rest of this decade and beyond. We’d like to say a huge thanks to Matti for his years of contribution at GTR Nordics as well as his participation at our most recent GTR CEE conference this year. Matti will be retiring after 40 years within the trade finance and we wish you all the best! #GTRNordics #Trade #Exports #SupplyChains

Sentiment across the #globaltrade and #tradefinance sector points towards a deterioration of the macro environment. Higher interest rates, the lasting effects of #inflation, and rising geopolitics-driven #trade disruption risks are threatening #supplychains. Innovative #workingcapital optimisation and agile #tradefinancing capabilities are offering proactive mitigation to the risks associated with sudden disruption in supply chain and a challenge for the financing environment. At GTR Nordics today, expert panellists reviewed the primary supply chain risks Nordic corporates are facing in the present geopolitical environment as well as diversifications initiatives supplier are utilisiling in response. Special thanks to our speakers: 📢 Richard Hayes (Nordea) 📢 Antti Niemela (OP Financial Group) 📢 Dhiresh Dave (Falcon Group) 📢 Jean-Marc Monshausen (Santander) 📢 Tony Whiddett (Silver Birch Finance) We hope you enjoyed the panel! Being both a prolific #importer and #exporter, Turkiye has been long recognised as a gateway into Middle East markets and those further afield. However, its economy is still experiencing volatility and structural changes, which is affecting #globaltrade. At GTR Nordics today, muzaffer aksoy (Bank ABC), André Lundvall (EKN Exportkreditnämnden) and Laurie Flaux (Aon) explored the significant #trade and #export opportunities presented by the Turkish market, as well as the risks and challenges faced by those undertaking and #financing this business both within the country and across the MENA region. We hope you enjoyed the panel! Follow GTR and event discussions at #GTRNordics #Trade #Exports #SupplyChain

The regulatory overhaul, related to the utilisation of digital negotiable instrument (#DNI), is gaining worldwide momentum. Key #economies and financing hubs are now following in the steps of the UK, Singapore and Mexico. While the regulatory environment is already enabling #transactions and utilising #eBills as collateral, looking beyond the financial sphere might suggest that trade finance is lagging far behind other areas of the ecosystem. In Stockholm today, Joshua Kroeker (Mitigram), Rebeca Suup (Alleima), Patrik Zekkar (Enigio), Christer Norén (Swedbank), Chris Southworth (ICC United Kingdom) and Lars Karlsson (A.P. Moller - Maersk) reviewed some of the contentious issues relating to trade digitalisation, learning from more digitally advanced areas of the ecosystem. We hope you gained valuable insights!
