    Growing up in Asia, I often heard the message: keep your head down, do good work, and do what you’re told. Or, “Don’t challenge the system”, as my mom would say. It took me a long time to speak up and share my ideas. When I finally did, everything changed. My learning accelerated. 🚀 I worked on exciting projects, innovation increased, and my growth 10x-ed. The impact wasn't just on me. But also on the wider team and organisation. Looking back, a huge contributing factor was the intentional steps the leaders I worked with took to create a space of psychological safety and learning. Now, to be clear, this does not mean making random mistakes and getting away with them in the name of “learning”. Instead, it was about creating a space that was high on psychological safety but also high on accountability. Where one could address issues safely, take calculated risks, and make intelligent mistakes. —— This is why, at INCLUDE, we were excited when Singtel Singapore approached us to roll out an Inclusive Leadership program. Over two days, we trained 100 leaders with best practices and evidence-based approaches to building psychological safety and high-performance teams, providing practical strategies they could apply immediately.     ✴ BE INTENTIONAL This was the key takeaway from the session I just wrapped on Influencing with Impact. Being intentional is NOT being inauthentic. It's recognising that, as Women, we often have to quickly build influence with senior stakeholders who are, still more often than not, men. Navigating over this extra degree of difference brings challenges our male colleagues don't experience. In the session, where over 80 women from across the globe attended, I shared models and practical tools women can use to authentically build more influential relationships in the place. This is module 2 of the 12-month programme we designed for Women's networks and resource groups. Thanks as always to the amazing women at Glanbia's NOW (Network of Women) and to Jo Lanigan, Naoise Coogan and Xiaoyu Hue for organising.     🔕 Traditional leadership programs often focus on “fixing women.” But let’s be clear. Women don’t need fixing. Yes, we get spoken over.  Yes, our ideas are frequently stolen.  Yes, we have to achieve more to be perceived the same as our male colleagues.  Yes, we get mistaken for someone's secretary.  Yes, we struggle to get access to senior sponsors.  Yes, we receive less actionable feedback and disproportionately more comments about our ‘style’. But we still don't need fixing! Instead, we need the tools to navigate the unconscious gender biases we face in the workplace. Through our work with organisations such as JLL, Standard Chartered Bank and many more, we have implemented an evidence-based program that has increased gender representation at the leadership level. Not through fixing women.
