Kelce’s authenticity, both as a player and analyst, is what makes him a fan favorite. Be it passionately defending the spirit of the playoffs or calling out misleading posts, Kelce never holds back from being himself. And that's why football fans-and podcast listeners-keep coming back for more. The star offensive lineman and co-host of the New Heights podcast with his brother Travis found himself addressing some unnecessary internet drama this week. The Philadelphia Eagles legend took to social media to set the record straight after a Texans fan, known as "sidelinesarah," misrepresented his words in a viral post.
The Drama: Misleading Playoff Comments
The whole incident was caused by sidelinesarah when he said that Kelce described this Houston Texans-Los Angeles Chargers upcoming NFL playoff game as the "least interesting game." But Kelce was very quick to set a record straight, stating that his comments have been taken out of context.
To clarify, he said:
"This was in response to a YouTube tv hypothetical question if all the games were on at the same time, which four games are you watching. I am absolutely watching all of the games, because the playoffs are awesome. Why would you mislead your followers?"Kelce here demonstrates that whatever he has, fans are also enjoying both of these: very candid and open commentary off field as well.
A Passionate Take on Saquon Barkley and the Rushing Record
This isn't the first time Kelce's passion for football has been on display. In the same podcast episode, Kelce expressed his disappointment that the New York Giants had rested star running back Saquon Barkley in their season finale against the Eagles. Barkley was just shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's legendary single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards, set in 1984.
Kelce also expressed mixed feelings about the decision:
"Yeah, he would have got it. The New York Giants, Trav. He would have f------ blew that thing out the door. Did I want Barkley to go for the record? You’re goddamn right. I think it would have been awesome to watch it happen."He also defended Barkley's potential to achieve the feat under different circumstances:
"If he would have had the same amount of carries Dickerson would have had through 16 games, he would have set the record there too."Looking Ahead: Eagles Playoff Journey
As Kelce continues his coverage of the NFL, his Philadelphia Eagles are very much in the spotlight for their postseason run. After dominating the Dallas Cowboys in their win, the Eagles head into a huge rematch with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The game starts at 4:30 p.m. on Fox, and the fans cannot wait to see if Kelce's analysis once again proves to be spot on.
