Elon Musk calls UK PM Keir Starmer a ‘national embarrassment', demands his resignation

Billionaire Elon Musk has called for the resignation of UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, describing him as a "national embarrassment" in a post on social media platform X.
The comments come after Musk's repeated criticisms of Starmer's handling of grooming gangs during his time as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from 2008 to 2013.

In a series of posts, Musk accused Starmer of failing to bring “rape gangs” to justice, specifically targeting Pakistani-Muslim grooming gangs that had systematically exploited young girls. Musk's comments have drawn sharp reactions, with health secretary Wes Streeting calling Musk’s criticism “misjudged and certainly misinformed.”
Musk also criticised Starmer’s government for its alleged complicity, and he called for new elections despite the Labour Party’s landslide victory in July 2024. Critics, including pollster Luke Tryl, have argued that Musk, who is increasingly involved in British politics, "has no handle on UK politics."
Musk’s remarks went beyond the grooming cases. He also attacked Jess Phillips, the minister for the prevention of violence against women and girls, suggesting that she “deserves to be in prison” for opposing a national inquiry into the Oldham scandal.
Musk continued to support controversial far-right figure Tommy Robinson, who is currently serving a prison sentence for contempt of court. He described Robinson as being jailed "for telling the truth" and demanded his release, posting “Free Robinson” on X.
Musk’s involvement in UK politics took a new turn when he criticised Reform UK leader Nigel Farage on X, urging him to step down. Musk stated, “Farage doesn’t have what it takes,” and suggested that the party needs a new leader.
Musk appeared to back this idea, calling for a replacement and seemingly endorsing Rupert Lowe as a potential leader. He posted, “I have not met Rupert Lowe, but his statements online that I have read so far make a lot of sense.”

Musk's increasing involvement in British politics has sparked debate, with some critics accusing him of supporting far-right movements across Europe.
