  • Brothers & sisters make up almost half of all children waiting to be adopted and often wait much longer. Having a brother or sister who has been there all along can help adopted children to feel safe, settle quickly into their new home and provides them with ongoing companionship, mutual leaning and emotional support throughout their lives. Extra support and financial assistance* is available for those adopting siblings. *subject to criteria. To find out more, contact us on 01642 526400.

  • Fantastic to see collaboration across the region making a difference in providing more early permanence placements for children. EP means less moves and greater stability for children, fantastic progress all round 👏

What a good day for North East and Cumbria RAA’s and VAA’s as we move to the conclusion of this phase of our shared early permanence project. As a collaborative team of agencies who have worked together we were able to reflect and stocktake on our initial ambitions, and the achievements we have made together. It’s not all about numbers- however the numbers of children achieving an early permanence placement is up around 44% over 2 years. The numbers of adopters approved to also start their journey with the child form the earliest stage under EP is also up 44%. The project has been about so much more and we reflected yesterday on the quality of practice that has been enabled through this collective work together. There are clearly more social workers thinking about and planning for children’s permanence if a return home is not possible, from the outset of care proceedings and pre-birth. There is compassionate and meaningful relationship work between the parents, and EP carers, which is leading to long term contact, and/or identity and life story for so many children and families. We celebrated the achievements and made a commitment to continued work together across the region to build on the communities of practice, networks, and further ambitious plans for developing relational adoption practice. #earlypermanence #adoption Adoption Tees Valley Adoption England Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council Middlesbrough Council Hartlepool Borough Council Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council Darlington Borough Council North Tyneside Council Durham County Council Cumberland Council Department for Education

  • Currently, we have many children waiting alongside their brothers and sisters in our area. Whilst adopting siblings can be challenging, it also comes with great rewards. Adopting a sibling group can help adopted children settle into their new homes and ensure they have someone to share the experience with. Upon being matched, you will be given a support plan and additional financial support may be available. If you see your family having more than one child, we would urge you to consider adopting siblings. Call 01642 526 400 or request a call back: https://lnkd.in/eXgbVwAX
