Yesterday, I had the pleasure of representing The Manchester Metropolitan University along with Amer Gaffar FRSA celebrating 10 years of Agent Academy and the incredible impact they’re making across the region. 🎉 Agent Academy’s mission to level the playing field and transform how careers start was evident throughout the evening. Hearing from the current programme cohort and inspiring alumni who’ve moved into successful careers was so impressive. At Manchester Met, we focus on initiatives to close differential outcomes gaps, so it was inspiring to see and hear from these talented young people who are benefiting from Agent Academy’s approach. It was also fantastic to hear Iwan Williams & Gillian O'Brien speak about the profound impact of partnering with Agent Academy on the university sector. Collaborations like this are paving the way for more inclusive opportunities for young people, showing the power of partnership in unlocking potential. From zero-hour retail contract to full-time role in the film and TV industry Hanayah Aboarook completed the Rise Programme in 2022 and now works as Client Relationship Manager at Lasso Group. Before Rise, Hanayah said she felt trapped working in a part time retail job after graduating from university but struggled to find work. Hanayah said “Lasso Group came to Agent Academy for a speaker session and left huge impression on me. The leader of my cohort at Agent Academy then mentioned they were hiring. “I never thought with my experience I would get the position, but Agent Academy made me feel like I had a chance. They helped me write my CV and gave me the confidence that my skills were interchangeable. I was offered the job at Lasso Group on the last day of my programme!” Hanayah is just 1 of hundreds of young people who have made the jump into their dream career after finishing the Agent Academy, and we love seeing her continue to do incredible things long after her time with us 🌟 Are you feeling trapped in a retail job and dreaming of bigger things? Reflecting on an Incredible Journey⭐️ This week marked the end of my 12-week journey with Agent Academy in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Race Equality Hub —an experience that has truly shaped me both personally and professionally. As learners, we were tasked by the Race Equality Hub with an important and meaningful challenge: to explore barriers to discussions around race and racism in workplaces and communities, and to develop actionable, evidence-based solutions to spark transformative conversations. It was a project I thoroughly enjoyed and one I’ll always carry with me. A huge thank you to the Race Equality Hub for entrusting us with such an incredible project and for your guidance throughout. And of course, heartfelt gratitude to the Agent Academy team and our inspiring mentor, Sana Aboarook. You’ve helped me build the skills, confidence, and mindset I needed to secure my first professional role—a milestone I’m so proud of😁 The journey ended perfectly at Agent’s 10-Year Anniversary celebration last night. Hearing alumni success stories and gaining insights from Agent’s amazing partners was incredibly inspiring. It reinforced just how far-reaching and impactful Agent’s work is, and I’m proud to now be part of that legacy. This has been a life-changing experience, and I’m excited to carry these lessons forward into my career. Thank you, Agent Academy and the Race Equality Hub, for this unforgettable opportunity!
