Mind the gap: Ireland needs to increase the number of home retrofits massively to an average of 75,000 per annum and the number of heat pump installs to an average of 60,000 pa in order to meet our 2030 Climate Change Action Plan targets. This was one of the key messages from Stuart Hobbs, Director of Energy Services at SSE Airtricity, speaking at the National Retrofit Conference this morning. One of the key barriers he identified was consumer education and trust, which needs to be tackled by addressing misinformation and myths about home upgrades and technologies such as heat pumps - allied with a commitment to the highest possible standards by the retrofit industry.
