We are proud to announce that The Manor House Roundhay in Leeds, recently hosted a spectacular Strictly Come Dancing-inspired event, raising hundreds of pounds for St Gemma’s Hospice and was featured in the Yorkshire Post. The home’s café was reimagined with a red carpet, bubbly, and captivating performances from seven professional dancers from Caprice Dance Academy. Residents themselves served as the judging panel, adding a personal touch to the evening’s festivities. This event not only brought joy to residents and the local community but also raised much-needed funds for a deserving cause. It’s a shining example of The Manor House Roundhay's commitment to uplifting the lives of its residents while giving back to the community. We’re pleased to announce that nine Anchor residents have been honoured as winners of this year’s Loving Later Life Awards. Every year, friends, neighbours and Anchor colleagues get the opportunity to nominate an Anchor resident they think has made a real difference in their community for a Loving Later Life Award. Whether it’s because they’ve gone the extra mile to help a neighbour, been busy holding fundraising events for local and worldwide causes or are taking steps to become more sustainable. Our residents make our locations vibrant places to live. From George, a grandparent who brings his family together through poetry and puzzles, to Margaret, who organises events to unite her community, to Ros, who created a peaceful haven for residents to enjoy nature – these stories prove that age is no barrier to enriching the lives of those around them. We’re proud to celebrate the extraordinary impact that so many of our residents made through the Loving Later Life Awards. A huge congratulations to all our winners and nominees! #LovingLaterLife Find out more about these awards and our 2024 winners by visiting: https://lnkd.in/eRFKzRsd

In anticipation of the upcoming government Housing Strategy and building on the Older People’s Housing Taskforce, members of Housing LIN were invited to share their insights on what they think should be included in the strategy to address the housing needs of an ageing population. Anchor's Chief Executive Sarah Jones (she/her) highlighted the importance of building more social rented housing. "Good quality age-appropriate housing and support brings huge benefits for residents - enabling people to live independently for longer and helping tackle loneliness – reducing pressure on public services. At Anchor, we’re keen to work with government and partners to increase supply particularly in the social rented sector, where demand hugely exceeds supply. As well as enabling older people to live independently for longer, each new home for older people frees up housing and bedrooms for younger families and first-time buyers, making housing more accessible and affordable for all." Anchor's Director of Communications and Marketing and Chair of the Housing and Ageing Alliance Mario Ambrosi said: "As an alliance, we recognise action’s needed on multiple fronts. It’s as important to support adaptations for existing homes as it is to ensure new mainstream homes are accessible and increase supply of dedicated older people’s housing. Individuals also need help to navigate to the right option for them. The Older People’s Housing Taskforce did an excellent job of defining the solutions." Read their comments in full here: https://lnkd.in/dufkwZxQ #HAPPIweek #HAA
Building on the Older People’s Housing Taskforce report and ahead of the upcoming government Housing Strategy, which aims to construct 1.5 million new homes in five years, we asked Housing LIN Members for their insights. Not surprisingly, the common theme across all responses is the urgent need for the Housing Strategy to address the housing needs of an ageing population. Key points include: 🔸The importance of increasing the supply of age-appropriate housing, particularly through social rent and supported housing. 🔸There is a focus on improving housing design, making it accessible and adaptable, while encouraging intergenerational communities. 🔸Additionally, our Members emphasise the role of technology, investment in refurbishment, and the need for government support, including funding, planning reforms, and policy changes. Overall, they stress the importance of providing choice, flexibility, and well-designed homes that support independence and well-being. So, to coincide with HAPPI Awareness Week (9-13 December 2024), we are delighted to present their thoughts in this NEW blog 👉 https://lnkd.in/dufkwZxQ With thanks to everyone who contributed to this blog. It was great to host Cognitive Books Limited's launch of ‘Looking Back At… Classic Coronation Street’ at Lightbowne Hall care home, helping our residents to love living in later life. Residents and colleagues had a brilliant time eating Betty’s Lancashire Hot Pot, dressing up as their favourite characters from the early years of Coronation Street, taking part in our quiz and enjoying the book. We’re really proud to have been involved with this fantastic resource, supporting residents with dementia to enjoy meaningful activity, and boosting their creativity and wellbeing.
Our first ever book launch event was a bit unconventional! Find out how we worked with Lightbowne Hall, an Anchor care home in Greater Manchester, to launch 'looking back at ... Classic Coronation Street' (developed in collaboration with Alzheimer's Society and ITV Studios) and bring the joy of reading to people living with #dementia.

What a fantastic night we had at The Chimes! Sadly, this was our last Bistro night for 2024. However, we've shared some amazing moments throughout the year. So, all it leaves me to say is: "Bring on the laughter, fun, and great food for 2025!" Together, we're building a thriving community where later life is truly for living. #Wellbeing #Community #Connection #BeWell360 #TheChimes #Bingley #2025

Anchor and Plentific hosted an event at Parliament yesterday to celebrate a new partnership to transform Anchor’s repairs and planned works. Guests joined MPs from across the House at the event which was held by The Purpose Coalition. People heard more about the pioneering new digital transformation to improve the experience of our 65,000 residents by streamlining property operations and enhancing service delivery through a unified platform. Sarah Jones (she/her), Chief Executive says: “We were delighted to see so many industry experts and members attend and find out more. We know that completing repairs and planned property works on time, to a good standard, at a price that represents value for money is central to our residents’ experience of their homes and it is vital that we get this right. Our partnership with Plentific will help us to achieve this aim, harnessing the power of aligned people, systems and processes to deliver a consistent and responsive service.” Anchor and Plentific have a joint mission to utilise technology to make the lives of residents easier. Together, we are connecting communities to digitally transform housing operations, whilst unlocking efficiencies both within the operations of the business and for residents.
