Aquaspira supported the seventh Pipebots Pipebots Industry Workshop held at The National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF), University of Birmingham, on June 5th, 2024. This remarkable event showcased advancements in robotic technology for pipeline inspection and maintenance. We were proud to provide the chambers used during the demonstrations, which highlighted the capabilities of autonomous robots navigating complex pipe networks. We are incredibly grateful to NBIF and Pipebots for their collaboration and for allowing us to be part of this project. The event was a huge success, with over 50 industry participants providing valuable feedback and insights. We look forward to further contributions to such transformative projects and continuing our journey towards innovation and excellence. 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆: Supported by an Innovate UK grant, our laboratory enhances our capabilities in quality assurance and material traceability, allowing for comprehensive testing of raw materials to ensure the highest standards. 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗣𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: In partnership with the University of Birmingham and the UKCRIC National Buried Infrastructure Facility, we are developing a lower carbon smart pipe for sustainable large-scale buried infrastructure projects. This project involves the use of recycled materials and innovative sensing equipment for long-term asset monitoring. 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: We secured a £174,000 grant from Innovate UK, supplemented by a further £44,000 from Aquaspira, to explore the use of recycled materials and innovative sensing technologies in storm and drainage water pipes. This project aims to significantly reduce the use of concrete in construction, contributing to the government's carbon zero goals by 2050. We're excited to share our successful low carbon solution for Network Rail's culvert extension at Hook in Hampshire, appointed by Balfour Beatty plc. Our innovative steel reinforced pipes (CSR) provided a 48% reduction in embodied carbon and enhanced site safety with faster installation times. Despite the confined space, our 1,650mm pipes and quick-joint features enabled seamless installation, proving ideal for this challenging project. Team Aquaspira's Ben Vorlich WaterAid Scotland Munro Challenge Update!   Last week, WaterAid advised that the Challenge was to be deferred due to the impending Scottish summer. However, with some careful planning, hourly weather reviews, and a lot of determination, we at Aquaspira decided to take on the WaterAid Scotland Munro Challenge. We are excited to announce that WE DID IT! We conquered the climb and safely made it back to Beinglas Campsite. The journey wasn't just about reaching the top; it was about raising awareness for the importance of clean water and sanitation for people worldwide. It was an incredible team-building experience that brought us closer together and boosted our company morale. We're already looking forward to our next adventure! The WaterAid Munro Challenge is about making a difference. Every step we took and every pound raised helps bring clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene to communities around the world.
