Armsons Barlow are proud to have been involved in such a worthwhile project. The Park will benefit the community of Swadlincote and give them a place to relax and reflect on the rich mining industry of the town.
PROJECT COMPLETION 🚨 We have just completed a project in Swadlincote for South Derbyshire DC and Armsons Barlow where we have transformed a section of Eureka Park to pay homage to the towns mining history. The scheme was designed to incorporate steel arches that were reclaimed from one of the local mines before it was closed and repurposed as pergolas to create a tunnel like section along the new path. There has also been two statues carved out of the trunk of a large tree that sat at the entrance of the Cadley Pit, a Pit Pony and a Pit Boy. During 2025 a mosaic depicting works and life in the pits is to be installed which will span 6m and become a focal point of the circular seating area. Great to give back to the local community where many of us at Cawarden are from. The Stephenson Building on our Roundhouse campus has been expanded by 1,100 square meters at the front, now offering new facilities for Professional Construction, Engineering, Digital, and Leadership training at Levels 4 to 6. Major work is complete, and students have had access from the start of the term. Additionally, a similar expansion is underway at the rear to house the new Automotive Engineering facility. The three-story facility includes a large ground-floor workshop with a car lift for moving vehicles to a mezzanine workshop, which adds room for group instruction and demonstrations. The first floor features a classroom overlooking the workshop, while the second floor offers additional space divided into three classrooms, along with circulation and welfare areas. In line with the college’s net-zero goals and the recent IoT development, numerous photovoltaic panels will be installed on the Stephenson Building's new roof space.
